Publisher's Summary

Colorado Congressman Evan Kendrick is trying to live out his term of office quietly—when a political mole reveals to the world Kendrick's deepest secret: that Kendrick was the anonymous man in Masqar, the man who courageously freed the hostage held in the American embassy by Arab terrorists; the unknown hero who performed an act of outrageous daring then silently disappeared.

Now, suddenly, Kendrick is a living target pursued by the terrorists he outwitted. Together with the beautiful woman who once saved his life, Kendrick enters a deadly arena where the only currency is blood, where frightened whispers speak of violence yet to come, and where Kendrick's life—and the fate of the free world—may ultimately rest in the powerful hands of a mysterious and deadly figure known only as the Mahdi.

I just couldn't stop on this one. I even spent more time hiking just so I could listen longer.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Icarus Agenda to be better than the print version?

I have no idea if the audio version is better because I have not read nor seen the print version

What other book might you compare The Icarus Agenda to and why?

Daniel Silva books, because of the character development

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Love Scott brick.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Cry .....almost

    "I wanted to like it"

But I just could not suspend disbelief. This book is comprised of two different stories (one a political intrigue, the other a super hero spy story) that the author was unable to stitch together convincingly. It is presented as three books, but each book consists of the two stories badly stitched together.

    "Good book"

This was one of the better books, both story and narration, this from an 82 year great grandmother.

"Will not hold my attention at all"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not sure, the book is all over the place and is written badly. Unbelievable plot, story line and suspense is teeth "gnashingly" painful.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Ludlum again?

Sure would, but only his oldest works.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?

Of course, he does a superb job with all the material he is given to read.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None for me and I have listened to thousands of books in last 20 years.

    Any additional comments?

    Just disappointing.

    "Tired!"
    Any additional comments?

I am so tired of listening to this book i ave to stop; I keep hoping it will get to some cohesive point but it just keeps unraveling and wandering down random paths. Not to mention I quickly realize it was written in 1988 which makes it kind of silly with references to "high tech" items like car telephones and word processors.

    "OMG! Character and name OVERLOAD!"

This is my second attempt at reading this book. There are SO many characters, so many names, I lost track, and had to rewind to figure out what I had already forgotten. Seriously, I have loved past Ludlum books, got very involved with the story and characters, etc. But this one left me holding the bag on who did what, with whom, for whom, and what characters have been taken out? I needed a road map. Scott Brick's reading is, of course, the best, but even HE couldn't save me from this character crash..........lol.

    "Everyone is always angry"
Would you try another book from Robert Ludlum and/or Scott Brick?

    No

What was most disappointing about Robert Ludlum’s story?

Everyone seemed angry with each other.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Interesting inflections.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Plot seemed interesting.

    Any additional comments?

Enjoyed the Bourne series, but that was years ago. I may have forgotten, but it seems all of Ludlums characters are always p-o'd. Makes for an unhappy book and a bad listen.

    "Really good book"

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The characters are well developed and the story is intriguing. This is my first time reading this author. I bought the book on audibles recommendation and it was well worth the money.

I really did try but after the meeting with the VP then the trip to the cabin… I gave up and started rooting for the bad guys. Yes, I know the odds are stacked against the good guys so when they win it’s a momentous moment. I’ve stopped it for now, I may finish it but I’m not sure when.
