Publisher's Summary

Colorado Congressman Evan Kendrick is trying to live out his term of office quietly—when a political mole reveals to the world Kendrick's deepest secret: that Kendrick was the anonymous man in Masqar, the man who courageously freed the hostage held in the American embassy by Arab terrorists; the unknown hero who performed an act of outrageous daring then silently disappeared.

Now, suddenly, Kendrick is a living target pursued by the terrorists he outwitted. Together with the beautiful woman who once saved his life, Kendrick enters a deadly arena where the only currency is blood, where frightened whispers speak of violence yet to come, and where Kendrick's life—and the fate of the free world—may ultimately rest in the powerful hands of a mysterious and deadly figure known only as the Mahdi.

"Politician or not. A real hero."

I just couldn't stop on this one. I even spent more time hiking just so I could listen longer.

    "I wanted to like it"

But I just could not suspend disbelief. This book is comprised of two different stories (one a political intrigue, the other a super hero spy story) that the author was unable to stitch together convincingly. It is presented as three books, but each book consists of the two stories badly stitched together.

    "Good book"

This was one of the better books, both story and narration, this from an 82 year great grandmother.

"Will not hold my attention at all"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Not sure, the book is all over the place and is written badly. Unbelievable plot, story line and suspense is teeth "gnashingly" painful.

Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Ludlum again?

Sure would, but only his oldest works.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Scott Brick?

Of course, he does a superb job with all the material he is given to read.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

None for me and I have listened to thousands of books in last 20 years.

    Any additional comments?

    Just disappointing.

    "Give it time"

I chose this book because it was inexpensive and long. Also that I have enjoyed many books from this author and narrator. It took me a lot of time to get in this book, far more than any other book I've purchased from Audible. There's a lot going on, it causes you to have to pay attention. Overall I still feel that it was well written and I enjoyed the characters.

    "Spectacular!"

Scott Brick goes off the charts in performance of a high-suspense thriller. A must read for all who understand the "shadow government" behind the real US Government.
