Publisher's summary

The Team: Financed by a billionaire philanthropist, this elite team - a soldier, an historian, a computer whiz, a weapons expert, and a thief - is tasked with finding the world's most legendary treasures.

The Mission: Fearing a German victory in WWI, the Romanian government signed a deal with Russia to protect the country's treasures. In 1916, two trains full of gold and the most precious possessions of the Romanian state - paintings, jewelry, and ancient artifacts - were sent to the underground vaults of the Kremlin. But in the turmoil of war, the Romanian treasure was scattered and lost.

The Prize: The collection is now valued at over $3.5 billion. Despite several attempts to find it, its location has remained a mystery... until now.

Horrible narration

Characters sounded like breathy dopey valley girls and stupid surfer dudes. Very annoying and distracting.

Narrator doesn’t work

It’s amazing how much a narrator can influence the enjoyment of a book. In this case, make it very difficult to listen to.

should have listened to the reviews on this one

the narrator is everything. in this case it's horrible I couldn't even get through chapter 2. I'm not going to say anything bad about the narrator aside from with this story and him it's not for me. I'm not going to say he's horrible till I try and listen to something else by him. when I listened to the first Jack reacher narrated by dick Hill I was pretty confident I hated to kill but that was just a great story with a phenomenal narrator that was poorly written I've since come to love Benny of tick hills directions several other stories. I was really looking forward to getting through this book but I just can't with this narration I'll have to get my money back.

Great story but the narrator wasn't!

The story was great. A great mix of action and history. I expect to be able to imagine which character is "speaking" even if the name isn't said because the narrator uses a different voice for each character, but this narrator was really all over the place with all but a couple of the characters.

The worst narrator in history

The story in it self is good, the narrator in my upinion destroys the book. Will try paperback and see if I can enjoy the story the second time around.

A Cast of One Dimentional Action Figures

What a disappointment. Don't waste your time or credit. If you are looking for an entertainment read that has some semblance of intelligence then this is not it!!

Couldn’t get through this

I listen to a book a week and rarely find something unlistenable. Felt like I was listening to a narrator who was speaking to a 6 year old. Had to bail

Fun Ride (Except for the Valley Girl)

Where does The Hunters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoy treasure hunter adventures (Sam and Remi Fargo; ARKANE, etc.) so this new series fits in well. A bit rougher around the edges than the others but still ranks with the Fargos and Morgan Sierra! Can't wait for #3!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Hunters?

McNutt vs the entire Black Robe mob.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Cobb realizes the Russian Police Officer is not an enemy, as he rides his horse along side the team's train.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

They are already making the film, so we'll see what they use.

Any additional comments?

I wish the narrator didn't use a "Valley Girl" accent/inflection on Sarah. It does not fit with her character. Hopefully after the movie comes out, he'll change her voice to mimic the part in the film.

Glad I did not read the reviews because they are incomprehensible to me. Love this series.

Disjointed

Poor character development. The story jumps without explanation. I will not be continuing in the series
