Publisher's summary

Sherlock Holmes is the greatest detective in literary history. For the first time since the death of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a new Holmes story has been sanctioned by his estate, whetting the appetites of fans everywhere. Information about the book will be revealed as deliberately as Holmes himself would unravel a knotty case, but best-selling novelist and Holmes expert Anthony Horowitz is sure to bring a compelling, atmospheric story to life. With access to the estate's archives and careful study of the original stories, Horowitz is sure to weave a tale that satisfies new fans as well as the most dedicated Baker Street Irregular.

Better than expected

I have always enjoyed Sherlock Holmes books, this was the first modern try that I thought was up to Doyle's standard, a little dark but I stayed interested till the end.

Outstanding - Holmes and Watson Have Truly Returned!

Wow, I’ve only recently discovered Anthony Horowitz and I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve read. I will read the remaining book in this series and continue with the Magpie series next. And of course how can anyone top Derek Jacobi. I highly recommend this book and every mystery book Horowitz has written.

Exquisite!!

What made the experience of listening to The House of Silk the most enjoyable?

Mr. Horowitz has done a masterful job of recreating Holmes and his methods and Watson as the completely capable friend, assistant, and chronicler. all in a completely engrossing double mystery. Derek Jacobi is the perfect narrator in the guise of an elderly Watson- the prologue and afterward are pieces of art in thier own rights

Moving, yet not quite there

A moving Victorian mystery that is not quite Holmesian, as both Sherlock and Mycroft are a bit off, neither quite in character in terms of resourcefulness. None the less, a good listen, even if one guesses some elements long before the end.

a good listen with an interesting twist

Where does The House of Silk rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's up there. It's not one of my top three favorites but I'd definitely listen to more books from this author.

What about Derek Jacobi’s performance did you like?

Engaging

A worthy addition to Sherlock Holmes stories

Loved this story! Anthony Horowitz has written a fine mystery for the famous sleuth to detect. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would be impressed.
