His career in the OSS may have been brief - but it may just be about to be over.

I don't understand the negatives

Yes there are a lot of characters in this story, but each one is fleshed out to be a complete person. Granted, I did get a little confused with the code names Teapot, Teacup, etc., but it fit the plot. The base story is not that complex but the interaction of the characters requires the listener to pay attention.
My only complaint is the fact that Audible refuses to indicate the numerical sequence of books in a series. Had I known I missed one of the series I would have bought it first. Audible just lost a sale because I won't read a story backwards.

The Best Yet

W.E.B. Griffin is by far the best author of the Military genre. He uses actual true historical events adds in his own twist, throws in interesting characters and puts the reader right into the action. This book explains a lot about how Air America started. Fasten your seat belts and put your tray tables in their upright and locked positions, it's going to be a wild ride!

A little too much background

This was another good story, only slightly marred by too much retelling of the background story. While it is important for those who haven't read the previous books in the series, there was too much and it was so randomly inserted that it was hard to keep oriented.

As always, Scott Brick did a masterful narration. He does a great job of delineating the characters and a credible job with the accents.

All in all a great story, lots of action as well as a lot of emotional drama for the Frade family. I can't wait to download the next book in the series.

This is the second of Griffin's books I have tried, can I ger my credits back. Never again

Not worth the time

The title of this book implies an exciting spy thriller. It is just the opposite. Boooring! There is little action to hold a listeners interest for 21 hrs. I put it on "fast play" and it was still too slow. The plot sounded very interesting but the writing managed to deflate my interest about half way through the book. I finished the book in order to try to discover some redeeming qualities. I didn't succeed. it wasn't even good history. Don't waste your time.

WEB Griffin + Scott Brick = Good.

I like this series. The best line, used over and over, is, "The guy who looks like Howard Hughes." Chortle...

Slooooow start

If you are reading these books in order, skip the first two hours of Honor and Spies, as it is covered in the last 10 minutes of Death and Honor. Very frustrating as you wade through events you already know about, the story does not advance at all in this part. Griffin is big on revisiting information but this is the most aggravating case yet, as it is indeed a great otherwise tight series (I downloaded the Double Agents to kill a few days until this last in the series came out, don't bother with Double Agents, very weak). Honor and Spies picks up after the two hours rehashing the last book. Start two hours in and miss absolutely nothing.

Dramatic reading

A mediocre story line might be significantly more appealing without the Mickey Mouse dramatic rendition by Brick. Brick has a decent voice but his emoting and ridiculous attempts at accents while at the same time mispronunciation of foreign words becomes extremely tiring

Don't bother

Move on now to one of the other series, this one is not worth listening to. As other reviewers have said, the first two hours are a rehash of the previous books and he doesn't present anything new. He even rehashes earlier parts of this book in excruciating detail similar to his treatment of previous books. The dialogue is tedious and repeats itself over and over. How many time can Dortotea chide Cletus about his language? Or Cletus lament "his Tia Juan, that son of a bitch". When he (they?) wrote this one he couldn't even remember what he called one the the main characters (Martin) in previous books. I was gifted the books 5-7 so I finished the series. if it wasn't free I'd have asked for a refund.
