Publisher's Summary

Follow 23 adventures of Private Detective Harry Nile chronologically, from his first case in December 1939 to Winter 1942.

On New Year's Day, 1976, radio listeners were introduced for the first time to a former Chicago cop turned hard-luck private detective named Harry Nile, the brainchild of mystery fan Jim French, who created the 1940s-50s-era character for a one-time-only broadcast. But audiences wanted more, and so began 26 years of episodes featuring Phil Harper as Harry. These are full-cast audio dramatizations.

    "Best Buy!!"

Follow the noir adventures of Harry Nile in these short radio dramas produced in Seattle since the 1970's. The writing is crisp, the plots intriguing, and the price [on sale] cannot be beat! These show what America is capable of producing on a low budget [a local station] with high aspirations. Looking forward to the next installment [especially if it goes on sale!].

    "Love these! Give us more!"

I first heard "Harry Nile" on XM. My father and I used to have long conversations about how they really captured the feeling of "old time radio programing." The stories are fun and the voice actors are great!! Please Audible post more of these!!!

"The BEST PI Detective Radio Series ever!"

Jim French is a great writer, and Phil Harper brought the character of Harry Niles, PI alive! I have downloaded all of the series with Phil Harper. I will listen to these year after year, that is now much I enjoy listening to the episodes.

    "Old Time Radio"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If my friend remembers and enjoyed old radio drama, this would be the show for him. When I was a kid in the 1950s, my father let me listen to records of old radio drama, and when I scanned the dial of the old tube radio late at night, sometimes I could find radio shows like this one.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

These were nice short stories fitting of the hard boiled detective I enjoy.

Which character – as performed by Jim French and Phil Harper – was your favorite?

Harry Nile, our hero is my favorite of course.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The whole flavor of dramatic radio theator is wonderful for me.

    "Sorry, didn't like it"

I had never heard of Harry Nile but the time period appealed so I took a chance and got it. I listened for about 2 hours to give it a fair chance, but I knew long before I gave up that I really didn't like it. Felt very disappointed but it was my fault I suppose for taking a chance. Never again.
