Great education in art history

This was one of Silva's more detailed, and in my opinion, more interesting and educational narratives, giving in-depth histories of some of the world's greatest painters. It has a more or less typical Gabriel Allon story line, but for some reason, Kiara and Shamron do not play as big a roll as in the past. Another benefit for Francophiles is the detailed descriptions of his paths in Paris. Clearly, Silva has been there recently. The book is fast-paced and mesmerizing until the end, which is somewhat disappointing. It is as though it quickly tied up lose ends and just stopped any in-depth narrative. Still very worth the listen, as are all of Silva's books.

Breaks out of the formula.... A little

Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon series has become very formulaic. So much so, that I almost did not bother with this one, but I am glad I did. Most of the formula is there.... Gabriel involves an innocent woman that he must save, but the overall plot is far more complex than usual. As usual, he wraps up the loose ends before the story is over, but in a more challenging way with a satisfying solution. Definitely worth the read. However, I sort of hope Silva is done with this series

my favorite so far

the actual thriller plot on this story was calm, which was different but okay because it allowed so much time for visits with beloved characters. bravo!!!

Too much copy and paste in the dialogue and character descriptions.

I always love the history and current culture woven into the stories Silva writes. But this book is a phone-in. Feels a little “Murder, she wrote”... it was The Thomas Crown Affair meets Jadon Bourne.

Well above my expectations. Awhile getting started. French names of restaurants, streets and places took some getting use to.

Enjoyable story

Enjoyed this book. Interesting story covering the spy world and the art world. Very good reader. Story ends well with all the loose ends tied up.

Characters, Characters!

I highly recommend that the Allon series be read in order. If you do, the additional entertainment of watching additional characters develop is one of Silva's charms

The narrator is fantastic!

This is not your typical happy ending. I loved that Gabriel sacrificed everything for one person!
