Publisher's summary

From Janet Evanovich, number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, and Lee Goldberg, best-selling author and television writer for Monk, comes the first adventure in an electrifying new series featuring an FBI agent who always gets her man, and a fearless con artist who lives for the chase.

FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare is known for her fierce dedication and discipline on the job, chasing down the world’s most wanted criminals and putting them behind bars. Her boss thinks she is tenacious and ambitious; her friends think she is tough, stubborn, and maybe even a bit obsessed. And while Kate has made quite a name for herself for the past five years the only name she’s cared about is Nicolas Fox - an international crook she wants in more ways than one.

Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail - particularly Kate O’Hare, who has been watching his every move. For Nick, there’s no greater rush than being pursued by a beautiful woman...even one who aims to lock him up. But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O’Hare.

Problem is, teaming up to stop a corrupt investment banker who’s hiding on a private island in Indonesia is going to test O’Hare’s patience and Fox’s skill. Not to mention the skills of their ragtag team made up of flamboyant actors, wanted wheelmen, and Kate’s dad. High-speed chases, pirates, and Toblerone bars are all in a day’s work...if O’Hare and Fox don’t kill each other first.

Not your typical Evanovich

If you are expecting a Stephanie Plum type story. Don't waste your credit. I for one, really enjoyed this book. I have listened to many books by Janet but burned out on Janet's humor and had not purchased any of her books over the past several years. I bought this book with a healthy dose of hesitation but I'm glad I did. I also have listened to so many books narrated by Scott Brick & have been a tad burned out with his style as well. Well, much to my surprise, this story is well presented by Scott and the storyline entertaining.

Book 5 of this wonderful and fun series...

...will be released in 4 weeks. The title is The Pursuit. The Heist, Book 1, is extraordinary entertainment, as are all novels and novellas in the series. Scott Brick narrates brilliantly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Not quite Stephanie Plum

Not as good as her Plum series, but a worthwhile listen. Not as funny. Better narration than the Plums.

The Heist = Entertainment

This was a great book. Fun characters, good tight plot, lots of suspense, no gaping holes in the plot....I was pleasantly surprised. It's not a typical Plum novel, but it was very good. I can't wait for the next one.

Predictable pretense

Entertaining but somewhat predictable. Nice little package of an ancient mystery being solved by amateurs.

Looking forward to more

I really enjoyed listening to this story.
First of all, Scott Brick is one of the best narrator's out there. He just has a way of bringing the story alive. Secondly, I just really enjoyed the storyline and all of the characters. You could really paint a picture of each one. Funny thing is with Kate I had a picture in my head and then I started watching Castle again last night and there she was, Kate Beckett instead of Kate O'Hare. If they ever make a movie out of this book they should have Stana Katie play the part of Kate, or someone like her.

Awesome Entertainment!

I listen to many Audible books, but The Heist was one of the most entertaining books I have listened to in a long while. This was the first Janet Evanovitch book I have listened to. It was lighthearted, with a touch of comedic relief and playful sexuality. I plan to listen to the next in the series and hope it is as good as this one. I highly recommend this Audible book.

fun read.

This is the fun story and characters I expect from a Janet Evanovich book. Not that this is a bad thing. There's enough twist to keep it interesting. Janet's gift is characters you can relate to and a fun comedic engaging story. This story made me laugh out load several times.
