Publisher's summary

Now a Netflix film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas

The first Gray Man novel from number one New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney.

To those who lurk in the shadows, he’s known as the Gray Man. He is a legend in the covert realm, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible and then fading away. And he always hits his target. Always.

But there are forces more lethal than Gentry in the world. Forces like money. And power. And there are men who hold these as the only currency worth fighting for. In their eyes, Gentry has just outlived his usefulness.

But Court Gentry is going to prove that, for him, there’s no gray area between killing for a living and killing to stay alive....

Get ready for white-knuckled listening. Greaney's debut novel introduces the enigmatic and elusive Court Gentry, a former CIA operative and a legendary hired gun. With a terrifying ability to vaporize targets and a strict moral code, he stalks the gray margins of the world, moving silently from job to job, accomplishing the impossible, then fading away. When his government and former employers turn on him, there is no safehouse to run to, no way to lie low. In a constant state of escape and pursuit, Gentry tears through the Middle East and Europe in a riveting life-or-death race against time.

Critic reviews

"Through the carnage, Gentry remains an intriguing protagonist with his own moral code. Comparisons will be made to Jason Bourne, but the Gray Man is his own character. The ending screams for a sequel, but it will be difficult to maintain the intensity level of this impressive debut." (Booklist)

"Hard, fast, and unflinching – exactly what a thriller should be." (Lee Child)
"Bourne for the new millennium." (James Rollins)

With years of listening, countless customer reviews, and a catalog of seemingly infinite great listens, 100 suddenly felt like a very small number. What we know for sure—each title that made it to this collection is elevated and made special in some way by audio, whether by a layered performance from a single narrator, a brilliantly cohesive full cast, original music, or immersive sound effects. Not a Bedtime Story

Takes no time to fall into the plot and the action. Like the Reacher books, the main character is indestructible and, once you accept that construct, the book is impossible to put down. The reader is one of the best and I am looking forward to downloading the rest of the series.

One of the best narrator to author match up's yet

Would you consider the audio edition of The Gray Man to be better than the print version?

Yes - the narrator does an excellent job bringing the tension, struggle, and challenges in the story to life with his pacing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The grey man himself, although he is a bit 'over the top'.

The Gray Man series may be my new favorite

Love Greaney's character, the Gray man, because he's similar to Jack Ryan from Clancy and Brad Thor's character, Scot Harvath. Will probably be downloading the second book in the series.

I don't want to stop listening!!!

Would you listen to The Gray Man again? Why?

You have to know what happens to The Gray Man and are constantly rooting for him. I love all the sneaking around and action.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Gray Man?

When Gentry was trapped in the hole in Budapest.

What does Jay Snyder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

You know exactly which character is speaking without being told.

Any additional comments?

The Gray Man is B.A.

Fantasy thriller

This book worked well for me at the gym. I will take the next book. The story is implausible but it doesn't involve paranormal or science fiction. Probably more pleasing to males than females. Nothing but entertainment. But, what the hey, workout, driving. Really good for that use. You will not remember it much.

A fun ride

Yes, the characters are a bit thin, and yes, the plot is fairly predictable - but if you’re just after a fast-paced action story that doesn’t demand much of you but will keep you engaged, this’ll do you nicely. Well structured and performed.

Great suspense series! Just TOO much profanity!

I love this series! It is so well written and the suspense keeps you wanting to read/listen more! I am listening via audible and my father is reading the books. We just finished book 5 in this series. Look forward to reading the next one! The only complaint we have is all the unnecessary profanity!
