Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want?
But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be, particularly when your roommate's very bad ex-boyfriend wants her back and wouldn't mind you in the process. And especially when he's six feet of sheer supernatural seduction and you've got a demon mark that makes vampires literally hotter than hell.
To save herself and Ivy, Rachel must confront the vampire master - and the dark secrets she's hidden even from herself.

"You'll love this bounty hunter!" (Charlaine Harris)
"[Rachel Morgan] is a protagonist that blends the best qualities of Anita Blake and Stephanie Plum." (Jim Butcher)
I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!
This series sounds good and the reviews are high, but it's just not holding my interest. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't to keep focus on the main plot line and gets bogged down with other smaller escapades.
Narrator is very talented, but she seems to be content with just a mediocre performance. She will often pause, then add the rest of the sentence on like it's an afterthought. Sometimes she rushes into the next paragraph when a tiny pause would have made the topic change a little clearer.
I'm going to try one more book and hope...
I can't say this is the best story I have ever read/listened to, but it is darned entertaining. I love the fact that it is set in Cincinnati with familiar names popping up. My main problem is with the narrator. She pauses in the oddest parts of a sentence, breaking the flow of the story and making it a tad irritating to listen to. I didn't really notice this in the first book so perhaps it is just a product of her not feeling well during the production (she sounded a bit congested in parts). It could also be the fact that I normally listen to books while working and in this case I listened on a flight where I wasn't distracted. Overall, though, I would suggest this story to others. I liked it just as much as the first book and I have already purchased book 3.
Im a guy who likes both vampires & detectives. My favorite author/character combo is Robert B. Parker's Spencer series. Im also an Ann Rice fan. This book I got on sale & the following book, Every which way but dead. I have to say it took awhile to get into the characters not having listen to the 1st book. But by half way though I was very interested in where the book was going & all the new type of character that she added to the vampire genre. By the end of the book I was hooked & I went directly to the 3rd book. I love following a character's growth through a serious of books. Im going to enjoy these character's and this serious. I'm a 30-something paranormal, mystery, and humor enthusiast. For me, the main character is the most important part of a book.
Overall, I like this series, and I did enjoy listing to it. It's a complicated plot with a lot of characters, but overall it's not hard to keep everyone together. I just felt that Rachel whined ALL THE TIME. She always jumped to the wrong conclusions- which was a little frustrating.
This is the second book I have read from this series. I was a little disappointed with this one, Rachel who is the main character is sometimes just plain stupid just so the author can create drama. Also the narrator has a cold in many chapters and it is a little irritating to hear the nasal clog in her voice. I still recommend it but not as enthusiasticly as book one.
The story is great. Main character...doesn't deserve to keep living. I wonder how many people she will get killed around her by the end? Love the series so I will TRY to keep going.
Yes I would.
Kim is a good entertainer, the characters were just to hard to follow
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
It's great! right up my alley...I love a good Paranormal series and Rachel fits the bill to a T!
Rachel! She is great, even when she is scared she pulls thru and saves the day!
Just the Rachel books...I am starting #3 now...and she is a good narrator!
Yes....a few..one being how even though Rachel was frightened she tended to Ivy after she was assaulted...
Great Series...I highly recommend!!
At first I thought this was going to be too silly and I actually turned it off after just a few minutes and listened to something else. Then I didn't have anything else to listen to so I turned it back on. I am on book 4 now and can't wait to listen to the whole series. It is a classic detective story that happens to have supernatual charecters.
Books are great and Rachel is an incredible stron female character. Make sure you start with the 1st book though.
