Publisher's summary

"I've been following her for the past few days. I know where she buys her groceries, where she has her dry cleaning done, where she works. I don't know the color of her eyes or what they look like when she's scared. But I will."

Born to a prominent Chicago judge and his stifled socialite wife, Mia Dennett moves against the grain as a young inner-city art teacher. One night, Mia enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn't show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. With his smooth moves and modest wit, Colin Thatcher seems at first like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia's life.

Colin's job was to abduct Mia as part of a wild extortion plot and deliver her to his employers. But the plan takes an unexpected turn when Colin suddenly decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota, evading the police and his deadly superiors. Mia's mother, Eve, and Detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them, but no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family's world to shatter.

An addictively suspenseful and tautly written thriller, The Good Girl is a compulsive debut that reveals how, even in the perfect family, nothing is as it seems.

Featured Article: The Best Women Narrators to Listen to Right Now

One of the biggest questions listeners have when it comes to approaching a new audiobook is whether or not they'll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable, as audiobooks are at least a few hours long (with many clocking in at 20 hours long—or more!), and sticking with one person's voice for that time period can feel like a big commitment. We rounded up some of the best female narrators with a robust list of audiobooks under their belts.

Just say it alreay!!!!!!!!!!

OH MY GOSH! This book was really good, but I figured out very quickly just what was happening. From then on I was on pins and needles just waiting for the truth to come out. There were a handful of twists that I didn't see coming, but welcomed them. Overall the book was great, I just really wonder what would have happened had the truth come out way sooner than it did.

The narrators are awful

Worse selection of narrators yet. The cop is by far the hardest to listen to.

Great storyline but not so great narration.

Loved the storyline. Hated the narration. Actors speaking in the voice of other characters...uncomfortable almost like nails on a chalk board.

Surprise

I was listening to the book at night and fell asleep in the last ten minutes. In the morning I thought "should I listen to the last ten minutes?, I know how it ends". No I didn't. So glad I decided to finish. Definitely a surprise.

Similiar to Gone Girl

Would you listen to The Good Girl again? Why?

No, I don't like to listen to books a second time.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The ending

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

They used different people for some of the voices which I prefer

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was great, didn't see it coming.

Any additional comments?

This book is similar to gone girl, but with less twists until the end. But it was still very good to listen and entertaining.

The Good Girl is a Good Read

Mia grew up in a privileged home. Her father is a wealthily man. Yet on the rare occasions he paid attention to Mia it was for the purpose of controlling her. Fortunately her mother truly loves her.
Enter Colin. Colin has led a hard life. He has been hired to abduct Mia for evil men. Will he follow through and give Mia to the evil men? Will his goodness shine through? Will Mia survive? Who was really behind the plot? Who really loves Mia and who doesn't?

Do you like a good mystery? This this book is do you! There are some slow parts but overall this is a good read.

The team of narrators do a great job acting out the story.

Great Read!

Love the book! Looking forward to reading more by this author. Thought I'd be confused by the different narration, but loved it better than I thought I would.

It's no Gone Girl...but its good enough.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Good Girl to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version but I think audio is probably better considering there are multiple narrators.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I actually liked Colin the most just because he was the most real of all the characters and had the most development in his character.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They do a great job of bringing life to the characters. I didn't care for the way Colin portrayed Mia's voice (I thought it didn't fit her character) but he still did a good job of a woman's voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no...this took a good amount of time to get through.

Any additional comments?

It wasn't that exciting of a story but I still enjoyed listening to it.
