The Gold Coast is a winner.
I found this to be a very entertaining book. I love the wit of John Sutter's sacastic humor. Kept me laughing at his one liner's. Reminded me of the John Corey character in another series he produced that also kept me very entertained. Christian Rummel did a superb job of narrating this great book. Had to download the Gate House to see where he takes Mr. Sutter. Highly reccommended. Kudos Mr. DeMille!

5 Star + book
Being a big fan of Nelson DeMilles books I was a little leary of the 21 1/2 hours of audio, but decided to go for it. LOVED this book. Christian Rummel is a GREAT narrator and brought John Sutter and his family to life and draws the listener right into the story. As soon as I was finished this one I immediatly purchased The Gate House and kept on listening. Nearly 50 hours and I was upset when I got to the end. I found myself taking the long way home in my car, and taking the dogs for extra walks just so I could listen to a few more chapters before I had to turn it off. Really really good books. Now Mr DeMille needs to publish another chapter of John Corey life and I will be a happy camper :)

The hype isn't deserved -
I am not sure why people consider this such a great book - I found the story very slow, and the ending improbable. I did like the characters, and the narrator is very good - but I wouldn't bother.

Interesting story
I enjoyed the story line, but the language was AWFUL and totally unnecessary. I’d like to try the sequel, but I’m not sure I can do it if it’s the same way.
