Publisher's summary

Welcome to the fabled Gold Coast, that stretch on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America. Here two men are destined for an explosive collision: John Sutter, Wall Street lawyer, holding fast to a fading aristocratic legacy; and Frank Bellarosa, the Mafia don who seizes his piece of the staid and unprepared Gold Coast like a latter-day barbarian chief and draws Sutter and his regally beautiful wife, Susan, into his violent world. Told from Sutter's sardonic and often hilarious point of view, and laced with sexual passion and suspense, The Gold Coast is Nelson DeMille's captivating story of friendship and seduction, love and betrayal.

Sentences that make you laugh out loud!

What a fun, easy journey this author takes you along. The characters are perfectly realized making it hard to select a favorite. The narrator did a fantastic job changing his voice to fit each one of them. All in all, a very enjoyable listen.

One of Demille's best. The narrator was absolutely fabulous!
I felt sad when it was over...

Loved it!

A friend recommended this book and I loved it. Loved the humor, wit and the story. The reader did a great job. I am a big fan of Nelson Demille now. I read the Gate House after this (not as exciting as this one) and just finished the Lion's Game.

Great Narration

The narrator of this book, Christian Rummel, does a great job with all the various accents in the book. It made it easy to listen to and easy to keep track of the characters. It's complicated to explain all the American cultural aspects of this book, but let's just say there are a lot of them, and I'm glad I listened to it.

Awesome, Can't miss book; Highly recommended

Nelson Demille is one of the greatest story tellers of our time; this is a great book. First few chapters were slow with the readers style and Nelson building up the story, but at the midway point, it was crusing and heading to high gear. The ending is the 'can't put it down' quality stuff you just dream about from other authors. Highly Recommended.

Great story

it wasn't what I expected when I bought it. But what a great novel. Excellent narrator. He was perfect for that novel.

Excellent Book

I could have done without the author's WAY too long pat on his own back speech...but you can just skip it.
