Publisher's summary

I haven't touched another person in three years.

That seems like it would be a difficult task, but it's not. Not anymore, thanks to the internet.

My anonymous clients spend thousands of dollars to watch me take my clothes off for the camera. What they want, I give. Their secrets, I keep.

Everything I tell them is a lie.

Open the door to this year's most shocking thriller.

Critic reviews

"An incredible debut. Gritty, unique, primal, full of angst, oddly feminist, and right up my alley. The Girl in 6E deviates from formulaic romance to deliver something truly special and worthy of praise and attention. A dark soul like me isn't often surprised by controversy or taboo subject matter, but this book delivers and I'll be reading more A.R. Torre books in the future. Kudos!" (CJ Roberts, New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of The Dark Duet)
"Dark, edgy, and thrilling in a completely unexpected way." (Lisa Renee Jones, New York Times best-selling author of The Inside Out series")
"A.R. Torre's The Girl in 6E lifts the veil on the dark, erotic world of camping, but the book contains so many more surprises than that. At the novel's core, a tender heart beats, and the increasingly suspenseful pages fly by as its deepest secrets are revealed. This is a taut, edgy, thrill ride, powerfully gripping and impossible to turn away from." (David Bell, author of Never Come Back and Cemetery Girl)

Better on audio, IMHO

Better in audio: This is an internet sex-worker's adventure. Her voice is a performance tool. Hearing, rather than reading her story, got the right imagination juices flowing in my brain.

The best plots have an original plot idea, at least one that I’ve never read before. I had never read a story getting inside the head of an internet video sex worker … even though there is one in my extended family. So, right off the bat The Girl in 6E gets 4 stars for an original plot that tells a good story.

When an author lets me into the head of the protagonist and allows me to learn the whys of her motivation, a strong character becomes a more interesting character. This happened for me in 6E. So, now I’m up to giving The Girl in 6E 5 stars.

Although fluidity of language isn’t 6E’s strongest point, Ms. Torre puts into it enough internet, clothing and sex-toy lingo to add an authentic flourish to the story. Here, Ms. Torre’s writing quality and style made me enjoy the book more, not less.

I haven’t mentioned to sex scenes or erotic content, have I? Even with books that carry an “erotic” tag, I look for many things, such as the above, before I factor in the story’s success pinging my erotic nature. I refer you to other reviews to determine if that part of 6E might be a good fit for you. It succeed well for me.

a surprisingly good story

As I began listening, I wasn't certain where this was going. However, it was a really good listen, if you don't mind all the sexual innuendos. The author presents the character in her current situation in one chapter, then takes the listener back in the next, slowly revealing the circumstances leading up to her current life, adding a plot into the midst, keeping the listener on the edge, wondering how it will all turn out. Well done!

Kinky thriller

Where does The Girl in 6E rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in the 'good' zone but I probably wouldn't listen to it again.

Would you be willing to try another book from A.R. Torre? Why or why not?

Maybe, not sure.

Have you listened to any of Jorjeana Marie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I laughed when she said she let the delivery guy in then tried to kill him because she wanted to kill someone - and he was OK about it!

Any additional comments?

A strange story but still enjoyable.

Amazing performance !

The narrator did such a great job. I will be looking for more books she has done. The story was dark but good.

Loved the story, but the reference to 50 shades should be deleted

In no way shape or form was this book similar to 50 shades! That being said, it was a really great story and I'm excited to listen to the next book. It's definitely different than your average listen, but totally captivating and intriguing. I didn't want to stop listening!! For some reason it kept skipping, but idk if it was my phone or the book. I would definitely recommend this to my friends who like a little twisted with their romance :)

Highly enjoyable

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
This was a fun ride.

Any additional comments?
3.5/5. This was a very enjoyable read. This story is about Deanna, a girl who hasn’t left her flat in years because she has an uncontrollable urge to murder people. She makes a living as a cam girl.

I particularly enjoyed Deanna talking about her lifestyle. It was interesting that, despite being so avoidant of people, she has a fairly good support group on the Internet.

Any additional comments?

I just liked that it was different than what I'm used to, and i enjoyed separate timelines, and side stories between each chapter

Gripping psychological thriller

The narrator kept just the right edginess to keep me glued to the story. Chilling and sensual, with a look inside another another world.

Very interesting!

So let’s start with the over story, it was captivating, sexy and very disturbing all in one. When I read a review that it was Dexter meets a love story, they couldn’t have been more on point! The romance/ sex: 4 out 5 stars, the overall story line: 4 out of 5, and the book itself I would say 4.5 out of 5. I loved reading it and would I read it again, probs not but I did enjoy it over all! A great book!

A deviant but exciting thriller worth the read

Where does The Girl in 6E rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Near the top of my list. I liked the unique story. Exploring the world of live online porn was an eye opener for me. I knew it existed but never understood the draw. To think that many people pay so much for the experience was a revelation. But mainly the story was interesting and grabbed you from the start and took you on a journey of twists and turns that was fun and exciting. What more can you ask of an author. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the thought process of DeAnna/Jessica was interesting and believable. The way she became integrated and part of her client's lives was interesting but sad at the same time, which I am sure was the point. It is hard to accept that many people in the world look to a sex worker to be a significant person or the significant their lives was truly sad because I believe it is true. But don't let that put you off because in short it was a fun and exciting read.

What did you like best about this story?

I was fascinated by the world and how profitable it was.

What does Jorjeana Marie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes very. She does this by just telling the story and letting the facts come out as Jessica interacts with clients.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Nothing. I thought she was excellent.

Any additional comments?

Sex is not the subject of this book. It is the world that DaAnna lives in.
