Publisher's summary

Audie Awards Winner, 2010

The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Critic reviews

“Larsson’s vivid characters, the depth of detail across three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of the genre.” (The Economist)

“The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush. . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again.” (Newsweek)

“Salander is someone you will never forget. . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds . . . of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy.” (Chicago Tribune)

Fabulous -- three home runs in a row!

Would you listen to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest again? Why?

No. I have wathed all of the moves with English subtitles. Fabulous in their own rights and the first of the American rendition. All of the movies very true to the works. but, nothing beats a great listen.

Any additional comments?

This book is a fitting conclusion to the last. All of the strings are tied up although you'll not be able to guess how till you hear the last words.

Very satisfying end to the trilogy

This book as been reviewed so many times that I doubt there is anything left unsaid about it. So I'll keep it short and sweet:

The characters are great. The use of technology is fantastic and very accurate. The plot is gripping from beginning to end. I'm glad I read the book before watching the film.

Marvelous!

This was the best book of the trilogy and I am so sorry that Stieg Larsson will write no more! His characters are so well drawn and brought to life so beautifully by Simon Vance. I already miss them like old friends: I am sure that I will soon replay the girl with the dragon tattoo to be in touch with them again.

Ties up loose ends, great finale

This book puts the story to rest with great, neatly tied story lines. No sloppy, quick finishes and I never felt like I could wait a day or two to listen to more as I went through the story. Too bad Stieg Larsson passed away before he could give us more Lisbeth. She has been one my favorite characters in a long time, no nonsence, smarter than they think.

Simon Vance is again spot on as the narrator for this series.

YOU MUST LISTEN/READ THEM ALL. Worth the credits.

The books are great and once you have heard them all, see the three Swedish films of the series, then see the American version. All great, close to the books. Worth your while.

Narration great. Book ... yawn

To qualify as a bad actor in this series, you have to be: 1. male, 2. Heterosexual, and 3. One of the following: (a) involved in government, (b) involved in corporations, or (c) a stock bad guy character necessary to fill out the story (like a hoodlum). Lame.

When is the NEXT one in the series

I can't wait to get in my car in the AM and the PM to listen to this. I've had all THREE books...and the movie (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) subtitled in English. I hear they're doing an American version or at least an American made version...and I can't wait....I'm on the edge of my seat for
The Girl Who.......(part IV)

Simply put...awesome

My type of books are ones that don't belong to a series of books, but i must say that I just got finished with the last book in the Millennium Trilogy after reading the fist two and it's pretty simply to sum up, amazing. I almost cried in the ending parts of Hornets Nest...i don't want to give anything away but definitely would recommend buying all three!

Fa-a-nTASTIC !!!

Each book in the series was better than the last. I couldn't put it down! I found mysef cheering for Lisbeth and jeering out loud at the bad guys! I as so emotionally invoved I was actually almost worn out at the end (which I loved). Simon Vance's narration was wonderful. What a shame to have lost such a great author as Stieg Larsson

Perfect

This is probably one of the most well written and articulate trilogies I have ever read. Great, gripping plot, fascinating characters and excellent narration by Simon Vance. I will miss both Lisbeth and Mikael. I already miss the future works of Stieg Larrsson.
