Publisher's summary

Audie Awards Winner, 2010

The stunning third and final novel in Stieg Larsson’s internationally best-selling trilogy.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge—against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.

Critic reviews

“Larsson’s vivid characters, the depth of detail across three books, the powerfully imaginative plot, and the sheer verve of the writing make the trilogy a masterpiece of the genre.” (The Economist)

“The literary equivalent of a caffeine rush. . . . Larsson was one of those rare writers who could keep you up until 3 a.m. and then make you want to rush home the next night to do it again.” (Newsweek)

“Salander is someone you will never forget. . . . Anyone who enjoys grounding their imaginations in hundreds . . . of exciting pages about the way we live now ought to take advantage of this trilogy.” (Chicago Tribune)

Great book from a great series. Interesting charactors, a little twisted in the story line(but I like that) Moves along well. Keeps you interested, and very well read.

Wrapped up the trilogy beautifully

I binged listened to all three books. The characters are compelling, complex and flawed in fascinating ways. The narrator is one of the best I have heard. His character voices are believable and I forget it is all one man speaking. I am sad to have to find another listening obsession. Lisbeth Salendar is a wonderfully complex character. I love that even with a harsh past she emerges strong. A female lead to be reckoned with.

Props to Simon Vance

Good job with all the voices- certainly succeeded in making the pompous characters sound pompous!

Thrilling conclusion to the trilogy!

Big Fan

The third book of the trilogy changes from lots of action to actually tying together the story. Doesn't leave to many questions but, it is sad to have to say good bye to the characters. It was a pleasure to listen to the trilogy.

Whens the next book???

Where does The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

the more you are with the tough ass heroine, who needs help but never asks for it, the more you want to find out more. I want more books!!!!

What other book might you compare The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest to and why?

as with my other reviews Larsson's novels are that hard ass crime reporter and cops and private eyes and the gutsy smart awkward heroine reminiscent of pulp fiction novels.

Have you listened to any of Simon Vance’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

So far all the Simon Vance performance are spot on, quickly paced and keeps you moving without losing your footing in the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to this book in one sitting. I'm very tired and I want the next boooooook.

Any additional comments?

Wonderful conclusion to a satisfying Trilogy

This is book 3 in the Trilogy. I enjoyed the books so much I re-listened to all three books before starting a new author's work. The plot was thrilling and pleasurable. The characters were interesting and diverse. There was a satisfying ending too. I recommend highly. I loved it.

A great ending to an awesome trilogy!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would highly recommend this book... It's an exciting, suspenseful ending to a trilogy about an intriguing girl.

What did you like best about this story?

The main charater Salander is very fasinating... a great example of good human qualities that can be developed even when raised in bad circumstances. She is what makes this trilogy.

Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?

I don't really have a favorite character performance. Simon Vance did a fine job though. He made good distinction between characters. He didn't bring specific attention to any character which to me is good... I could add my own feelings...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have loved to listened at one sitting but my time doesn't allow that but I was always very anxious to get back to listening.
