Publisher's summary

Salander is plotting her revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release.

With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

Critic reviews

"With the spiky and sassy Lisbeth Salander - punkish wild child, traumatised survivor of the 'care' system, sexual adventurer and computer hacker of genius - Larsson created the most original heroine to emerge in crime fiction for many years." (The Independent)

"Complex, satisfying, clever, moral...a grown-up novel for grown-up readers...this is why the Millennium Trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." (Kate Mosse)

Someone must take up this tale from Stieg!!

This 3rd book in the trilogy more than lives upto the 1st and 2nd books which were also Excellent!! I hadnt heard of Stieg Larsson until reading this series - very sad to find out these were his only treasures before his untimely passing. I am hoping that someone can and will take up the strong characters Lizbeth and Blomkist and continue the story telling - what a loss if they should fade away without further adventures. The 3 books in this series are definitely a must read.

Quality All Round

Any additional comments?

I actually read the first two books and finished with the Audio book for this finale. I would like to have listened to books one or two so I could get the pronunciation correct of some of the Swedish landmarks. I found the narration to be up there with the best I've heard. In my oppinion Saul Reichlin is really good. I can recommend this book as Stieg wrote a great series.

the plot throughout has kept me on the edge of my seat. So much that i had to buy the entire series wnen I could afford it. Fantastic !!

Which character – as performed by Saul Reichlin – was your favorite?

lespit salasar

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the final wrap up scene.

Any additional comments?

Unspeakably brilliant.

What did you love best about The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

This is a an unparalleled narrative, with a remarkably creative vision and combined with a pervasive humanity.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

The climax, which goes for a couple of hours of listening time, is simply delicious. The delight in that couple of hours is just extraordinary, and the excellence of the ideas will leave most listeners feeling this is one of the most tangible achievements in all of story telling.

What aspect of Saul Reichlin’s performance would you have changed?

It is quite a good preformance. It does not have the precision and perhaps the 'sensibility' of the previous books voiced by Simon Vance, but you will still find yourself lost in the story; and that is the test of a reading like this

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The precision of the climax, and many of the events thorough the reading, left me laughing. But, not infrequently, the events are relayed with such intensity that they left me desperately sad for the main characters. It just builds upon the intensity of the characterisations created in the first two parts of the trilogy.

Any additional comments?

I have discussed this book with about 50 people and they all rate it as one of their best literary experiences. For those who have listened to this Audiobook, the praise is unanimous.

Was sorry to see it end

After a rocky start on the first novel, I think I started to 'get' the way that Stieg Larsson was telling his story, and I began to really enjoy these novels. At the end of the third one, I was genuinely sorry that the experience was over. It's a marathon to get through these stories, but I'm glad I did. The narrator is very good, and I think his voice really added to the experience - I never felt tired of his narration, even after 60 hours or so of audio.

I really enjoyed this series

What did you love best about The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

The story lines all came together, and finished with a bang. I liked the intricacies of the story, and I'm glad I finally listened to them.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked Lisbeth's character, and the fact that she didn't compromise her beliefs. I liked Mickael's belief in her.

What about Saul Reichlin’s performance did you like?

The consistency of the characters voices and their characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not too extreme, although I didn't want to put the book down - or press stop.

Sound quality is bad

I bought this by mistake. I bought two previous ones done by Simon Vance and they are awesome. This one is worse than Simon Vance. Two reasons
1. Sound quality is pretty bad. Literary, you can hear noise, fairly irritating.
2. Too much detail added which are omitted in the Kindle edition.

If Saul Reichlin read the same edition as Simon Vance in the same recording quality, then it could be awesome audio book.
