Publisher's summary

Salander is plotting her revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release.

With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

Critic reviews

"With the spiky and sassy Lisbeth Salander - punkish wild child, traumatised survivor of the 'care' system, sexual adventurer and computer hacker of genius - Larsson created the most original heroine to emerge in crime fiction for many years." (The Independent)

"Complex, satisfying, clever, moral...a grown-up novel for grown-up readers...this is why the Millennium Trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." (Kate Mosse)

spellbinding

I have finished listening to Stieg Larsson's trilogy and am sorry to have it end. I don't know when I have enjoyed a book(s) so much. If only we could look forward to future writings by this author and the narrator, Saul Reichlin, was absolutely fantastic. All in all a wonderful "listen" and I think, after a while, I may re-read all three.

Good story - could have done with an edit

I like the trilogy very much - very strong story, intelligent, politically insightful, plenty of twists and turns, and interesting characters. The version I downloaded didn't ask me to change tapes (as mentioned by other reviewers) so that problem appears to have been addressed. I think that the book(s) could have been edited in a way that pruned out some of the extraneous detail, which was most conspicuous in the frequent irrelevant lists - what someone bought, what they did when they got home, what clothes they put on and in what order... These struck me as clunky and the kinds of things that might be noted in the margin if you were directing a movie, but I just kept thinking 'yeah, yeah, get on with the story'. I always purchase unabridged books because I want to hear the story as the writer intended, but in this instance I'd be curious to hear the abridged version - perhaps it preserves the detail required to tell the story in full but without all the padding?

Great read!

This was as good as Girl with the Dragon Tattoo- maybe even better. I am so ad that Stieg Larsson will not be able to produce any more books! Blomqvist and Salander were very well-developed characters. Could not stop til I reached the end. Bravo.

Not bad, but not great either

This is the third book in the Millenium series. After Mikael saves her life, Lisbeth must fight for her life first in hospital, and then in court to prove her innocence for the murders. In doing so, she plans to get revenge for all the people and institutions that have done her wrong.

This was not a bad story. I liked the clever plot build up and the brilliant way it came together, albeit after many disturbing details being provided. I liked the development of the characters and their relationships, and sweet, sweet justice.

The narrator was good and provided a very entertaining experience. Although I liked this book, it does not beat the first in the series.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornest Nest

Fantastic.....a bit too much detail for me - but then again I am not a detailed person - amazing story.....cannot wait for the next one!

Awesome story

What a great conclusion to the trilogy. An absolute must read. I felt, like my wife, a little down when the book was finished. We had been totally captivated by the twisting story line and didn't want it to end. Looking forward to the next exciting addition if & when it becomes available. You must start at the beginning though book one "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

Thrilling saga from Sweeden

Dark and thrilling, I like narrator a lot. The third book is worth reading (listening).

Good story let down by a sloppy audiobook

This is no reflection on the story but my enjoyment of this audiobook was hampered by the fact the audio track is clearly taken from a set of audiotapes as the instruction to turn your tape over still remain. Also and this is purely personal preference but I miss Simon Vance as the narrator. I had purchased the editions of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire that feature Vance but unfortunately such an edition of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest is currently unavailable on Audible. However I would advise anyone new to the series to purchase the copies of first two books that are narated by Simon Vance

THE BEST SERIES EVER

I just loved the twisted tales and characters. The beautiful descriptions of the country side, that made my immagination ran wild. The way the narrator Saul Reichlin keeps you on edge all the time. He is amazing.

These characters will be with me for years

The performance is excellent, the story exciting, and the characters - unforgettable. This series is one of the best I've ever read and you'd be hard-pressed to find a more engaging story if you like action and rich, strong characters. My advice - read them in order and give yourself the time to really enjoy them. It's hard to believe this is a translation - the English is superb.
