Publisher's summary

Salander is plotting her revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release.

With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

Critic reviews

"With the spiky and sassy Lisbeth Salander - punkish wild child, traumatised survivor of the 'care' system, sexual adventurer and computer hacker of genius - Larsson created the most original heroine to emerge in crime fiction for many years." (The Independent)

"Complex, satisfying, clever, moral...a grown-up novel for grown-up readers...this is why the Millennium Trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." (Kate Mosse)

Fanatstic

Great final book that wraps up the series well.
The narrator adds to the story with a great effort.
In a way it was disappointing for the book to end because it was so good.
Highly recommend all in the series even though they take a while to listen to. However you soon become involved and wanting more.

Fabulous - I couldn't stop listening

A fantastic conclusion to a great series, I couldn't stop listening. Larsson ably knits many strands together, creating a very satisfying conclusion to a story that looks deeply at what happens when society fails its most vulnerable. The series is set in Sweden so the reader gets the added benefit of learning more about Swedish life and history. A great listen..

Engaging and multi-faceted; not at all predictable

Would you listen to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest again? Why?

No, there are so many other books I would like to read.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Sure; this is not a predictable story, and many things are going on simultaneously.

Which scene was your favorite?

The court scene toward the end of the story when all unravels

Any additional comments?

The narration was truly superb.

Excellent end to the series

What did you love best about The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest?

It was a great ending to the series - making sense but also exciting and surprising right to the end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Naturally Lisbeth was the character I enjoyed most although Mr Larsson is able to describe people and actions so well that you can picture them easily and match them to their characters.

What about Saul Reichlin’s performance did you like?

He made the characters come alive with his accents.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is a book that, like the other two, catches you up and makes you not want to put it down. I listen to audiobooks to and from work, and found myself continuing to listen as I wandered around the house doing various chores - just didn't want it to stop.

Any additional comments?

Although the author seems to go overboard on explanations at times, it all makes sense as the stories unfold. I had trouble starting the first book for this reason but don't be put off by this. Well worth listening to - but start with the first in the series to really understand more about Lisbeth and why she reacts the way she does. Everything unfolds as it should.

A grand finale to an outstanding trilogy

What a shame Stieg Larsson did not live long enough to continue this series. I believe he had up to 10 in mind and his partner is collating his notes to hopefully bring another book to life but wonder if this is a wise move. The pace, suspense and conclusion of this one would be a hard act to follow. It was necessary to rewind multiple times to keep the actions in focus. Again full marks to Mr Reichlin for his superb narration.

A fantastic book to end off the trilogy

What made the experience of listening to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest the most enjoyable?

Great production and a story that held you listening every day.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mikal

What does Saul Reichlin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Saul had a great range of voices to offer to all the characters

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Never stop thinking the end is about to happen

excellent

A great read. I was sorry when this trilogy finished. It kept me Intrigued to the end. What a pity there are no more books by this author.

Comforting series

After the three books listened to in a row, this one rounded up the series quite nicely. I particularly enjoyed the series and wait enthusiastically for the next book by the same author.
