Publisher's summary

Salander is plotting her revenge - against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release.

With the help of journalist Mikael Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

Critic reviews

"With the spiky and sassy Lisbeth Salander - punkish wild child, traumatised survivor of the 'care' system, sexual adventurer and computer hacker of genius - Larsson created the most original heroine to emerge in crime fiction for many years." (The Independent)

"Complex, satisfying, clever, moral...a grown-up novel for grown-up readers...this is why the Millennium Trilogy is rightly a publishing phenomenon all over the world." (Kate Mosse)

These characters will be with me for years

The performance is excellent, the story exciting, and the characters - unforgettable. This series is one of the best I've ever read and you'd be hard-pressed to find a more engaging story if you like action and rich, strong characters. My advice - read them in order and give yourself the time to really enjoy them. It's hard to believe this is a translation - the English is superb.

I want my 25 hours back !!

One of those books where the movie IS actually better..I loved Book 1 and was dying to read this one now I just want all that time back!!
Stieg Larsson is obsessed with giving you exact directions to every location including side streets and street names ..Also,is a biography necessary for EVERY character? An audiobook brings home to you many things you may not register when reading a book but seriously when every other chapter ends with "he/she was asleep in _ seconds/minutes,you want to strangle someone...

The movie fortunately cuts through the manure and actually gives you whats relevant and I lived it way better than the book..

Someone must take up this tale from Stieg!!

This 3rd book in the trilogy more than lives upto the 1st and 2nd books which were also Excellent!! I hadnt heard of Stieg Larsson until reading this series - very sad to find out these were his only treasures before his untimely passing. I am hoping that someone can and will take up the strong characters Lizbeth and Blomkist and continue the story telling - what a loss if they should fade away without further adventures. The 3 books in this series are definitely a must read.

Comforting series

After the three books listened to in a row, this one rounded up the series quite nicely. I particularly enjoyed the series and wait enthusiastically for the next book by the same author.

Very well done and a good finale

The narrator is fantastic. There are some reviews here stating it’s just a recording from audio cassettes prompting to change tapes… this was not the case with my purchase. Good quality and definitely not from tapes.
The final book is VERY long. And sometimes delves a little too deep into political affairs for my taste. But all in all I loved it and the story was wrapped up nicely.

Interesting story but the writing is weak

I really struggled with this one. I just got so sick of the author constantly explaining what was happening to us. I felt like a child listening to a primary school teacher.
The story of this series is good. The idea of the characters is good too, but the way they’re written makes them feel a bit flat. The writing is all over the place and really rather ruins the whole. I think 3 books is enough. They’re not improving, so I might just leave the story where it is. Great idea, lousy execution

Not bad, but not great either

This is the third book in the Millenium series. After Mikael saves her life, Lisbeth must fight for her life first in hospital, and then in court to prove her innocence for the murders. In doing so, she plans to get revenge for all the people and institutions that have done her wrong.

This was not a bad story. I liked the clever plot build up and the brilliant way it came together, albeit after many disturbing details being provided. I liked the development of the characters and their relationships, and sweet, sweet justice.

The narrator was good and provided a very entertaining experience. Although I liked this book, it does not beat the first in the series.
