    "Good story and excellent characters"

Patricia Wentworth has a knack of making her books eminently readable and listenable and entertaining to the end. Whilst her main character through the books, Miss Maud Silver, plays an integral role in the books, she does not dominate them. Patricia uses her main character as the catalist from which the other characters find their way to the truth. This makes all the books very individual as all the "main" characters for each is different.

I would recommend this series to everyone who enjoys a good mystery, particularly those based in the past.

I look forward to Audible to obtaining the rest of the series so that I can listen to more ...!

    Story
    "A Favourite Patricia Wentworth story"
If you could sum up The Gazebo in three words, what would they be?

    Cozy, teasing, soothing

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Miss Silver mysteries are always interesting, not necessarily edge of the seat but with enough twists to keep the reader involved.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The snooping nature of the three sisters in the fish queue scene story

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. It just evokes a soothing reminder of a more innocent time, even with murder involved

    Any additional comments?

I have read this story more than once and now I have listened to it. The narrator manages to keep the atmosphere without using a dated voice, leaving the story to create its own aura.

"Classic British Village mystery - fun and clever"

Diana Bishop does a stellar job of performing this delightful, clever, well written story with a murder victim you love to hate--the epitome of a selfish, manipulative, hypochondriac mother. Miss Silver is the old fashioned retired governess turned private eye who knows exactly what she believes in, carries herself with unimpeachable integrity, compassion, and intelligence, and solves the mystery hands down, thereby ensuring a happy ending for....but I won't give it away! Enjoy!

"Classic mysteries of bygone era! Love Miss Silver!"

I so enjoy Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver series of classic British mysteries! I am very excited to see that more of the books will be available in the audio format this coming June! If you enjoy Agatha Christie's Miss Marple, you most likely will equally enjoy Patricia Wentworth's Miss Silver :) Narrator Diana Bishop gives a wonderful performance, perfect for the tone of the series. I highly recommend this series for a rainy or snowy day with a nice pot of tea at hand. And maybe some knitting.....

"There is such a thing as being too nice!"

Although this is well written book in terms of the smoothness of the writing, the main characters themselves were pretty unbelievable. The poor, downtrodden heroine, the noble boyfriend, the awful, demanding mother. Honestly the reader begins wishing that somebody would get a backbone and stand up for themselves at least once. The murder plot is pedestrian and very much over explained, the middle of the book sags, as witnesses are questioned in excruciating detail. There is a nice "Miss Marple" type who figures in the plot. However the reluctance of the police to believe anything they are told without practically being given a video of the crime taking place beggars belief and exhausts patience.

But the worst thing of all is the poor heroine who is what is sometimes know as "wet" i.e. lifeless, spiritless and uninteresting.

    "Miss Silver Delivers"

I love Patricia Wentworths books and this one doesn't disappoint. The controlling mother is really well portrayed as are the other characters. As always there's a romance which lightens the story. Miss Silver is on hand to sort out the murder and bring the story to a satisfactory end. I loved it.
