Publisher's Summary

Undersheriff Estelle Reyes-Guzman is always busy, but more so now than ever. The sheriff is still not completely recovered from his stay in the hospital, and she is recovering from a hospital stay herself.

After a long day at work, Estelle is happy to clear off her desk and drive home, where her beloved family waits. She hears her cell phone ringing as she pulls into the driveway. A truck has gone off the road and the driver's body found near the wreck. Back on the job, Estelle drives to the scene, where she finds more questions than answers. Was the truck going over the hill really an accident? And why was there a single footprint on the man's body? An autopsy spurs further puzzles. Steven F. Havill paints a vivid portrait of this small New Mexico town in the sixth entry of this atmospheric, entertaining series.

    "my last read!"

Boohoo! i can't believe I have read ALL the Posadas County books! what am I to do! These books are good stories without the seemingly necessary sex scenes of other books, they are just good straight, interesting and enjoyable reads. If anyone knows of a series in this same catorgory please let me know!
I will miss Bill Gasner very much!

    "When will the story start?"

The author is certainly caught up in writing incredibly lengthy descriptions about nothing of any importance whatsoever. Character development is one thing, but he forgot about the plot. This might have made an OK short story.

    "Whatever happened to Rusty Nelson?"
Would you try another book written by Steven F. Havill or narrated by Beth Richmond?

I love these yarns by SFH, but they have been totally spoilt by changing the narrator. Rusty Nelson has become the voice of the sheriffs department for me. His gravelly voice speaks to me in tones that encompass not only the long nights in a police car, the dust and the green chilli burritos but also of all the other characters that appear. To introduce the ladies voice into this format just because the under sheriffs gender has changed is a mistake.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    The under sheriff.

What didn’t you like about Beth Richmond’s performance?

    See above.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

    Yes
