Publisher's summary

In Paradise, nothing is what it seems....

Army Special Agent John Puller is the best there is. A combat veteran, Puller is the man the U.S. Army relies on to investigate the toughest crimes facing the nation. Now he has a new case - but this time, the crime is personal: His aunt has been found dead in Paradise, Florida.

A picture-perfect town on Florida's Gulf Coast, Paradise thrives on the wealthy tourists and retirees drawn to its gorgeous weather and beaches. The local police have ruled his aunt's death an unfortunate, tragic accident. But just before she died, she mailed a letter to Puller's father, telling him that beneath its beautiful veneer, Paradise is not all it seems to be.

What Puller finds convinces him that his aunt's death was no accident… and that the palm trees and sandy beaches of Paradise may hide a conspiracy so shocking that some will go to unthinkable lengths to make sure the truth is never revealed.

Terrific Book!

It kept me interested throughout. Great characters, narration and story! Yes, the hero is a bit superman, bigger than life, but a great ride!

Another enjoyable Baldacci book

Would you listen to The Forgotten again? Why?

Yes I would. The only fly in the ointment is that I would most likely remember the plot twists which make the book not quite as enjoyable. Baldacci definitely throws in some red herrings and false trails.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I liked Miko the best (after Puller) because he was trying to redress an injustice yet was very strong, skilled and mostly pretty smart about it.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

McLarty puts a lot of feeling into the story. Cassidy does the female characters and they all tend to sound very similar.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. This book kept me engrossed and interested the whole time. Given the genre of mystery/thriller, I really don’t think the reader is intended to laugh or cry.

Any additional comments?

This is an absorbing mystery, with mostly likeable characters and some good twists.

Read the Book - Loved the audio

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I read the book and thought I would listen to the audio. I always enjoy the sound effects of these books. Its kind of like watching a movie but no parts are taken out. Any body with an imagination who also loves these kind of book - this is a must listen. Keep up the excellent work.

What does Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Unlike most audios, having the guy/girl voice really brings the book to life. Love it, Love it Love it.

Exceptionally Corny

Some of the dialog causes eye rolling. It reminds me of the John Wayne pictures glorifying war. So be prepared for this.

Having said that it is a surpurb action thriller. Way beyond belief. But that is why I read fiction. If I want realism then I go to non fiction which can also be enjoyable. The more I read of David Baldacci's work the better I like it.

Just like another reviewer the wierd special effects I could do without. But the listen is worth it.

Well done performers Ron McLarty and Orlagh Cassidy .

my first Puller book ! <br />

male narrator was excellent; female not as good. I also did not care for the music added in the background.
But all in all I enjoyed the story and having it read to me is great.

Get observations

As a young military policeman . I desired to become a CID agent . While I really enjoyed being in the military police, and doing things like transport to Leavenworth , I did not get to get into CID . The Puller series allowed me to imagine fulfillment .
