Publisher's summary

In the heart of North Carolina's Research Triangle stands a corporate laboratory much like the others nearby. But behind its walls, America's top scientists work around the clock to attain the holy grail of the 21st century - a supercomputer that surpasses the power of the human mind.

Appointed by the president as ethicist to Project Trinity, Dr. David Tennant finds himself in a pressure cooker of groundbreaking science and colossal ambition. When his friend and fellow scientist is murdered, David discovers that the genius who runs Project Trinity was responsible and that his own life is in danger.

Unable to reach the president, and afraid to trust his colleagues, David turns to Rachel Weiss, the psychiatrist probing the nightmares that have plagued him during his work at Trinity. Rachel is skeptical of David's fears, but when an assassin strikes, the two doctors must flee for their lives.

Pursued across the globe by ruthless National Security Agency operatives, David and Rachel struggle to piece together the truth behind Project Trinity and the enormous power it could unleash upon the world. As constant danger deepens their intimacy, Rachel realizes the key to Trinity lies buried in David's disturbed mind. But Trinity's clock is ticking.

one of the weaker Iles books

I think I read pretty much all but two of his books by now. I loved most, liked some and got along with this one. not a bad book but some parts of the story are a bit far fetched and that comes from someone who reads the weirdest stuff occasionally. I listened to the end but closed the book and moved on without feeling a great loss.

Footprints of God

I have read most of the books available written by Greg Iles. He continues to be one of my favorite authors.
This is my first experience with audio books and I was not disappointed.
Greg is a master of story telling and Footprints of God was quite enjoyable.
It was a little difficult to get past the non Christian/Judeo concepts put forth in this work but he does lay out an interesting alternative.

My only negative comment would be to have a female read the female parts. the reader sounded too much like a man trying to convince the world that he is female in the voice used for Rachel's character.

Don't waste your time on this one....

I usually love Greg Iles.... but this was the longest, most drawn out, nothing to hold you story I have ever read..... I really finished and asked myself why I wasted my time..... Very disappointed..... I think this is an old book, his newer ones are MUCH better.

Surprised by Footprints!

I’ve read most of Greg’s books set in Mississippi. Enjoyed them all. His venture into the world of computers and AI did not disappoint. His characters were intriguing and likable - at least the good guys. A world being taken over by a super computer is scary. But, I’d it possible? 🫣😳

Greatly improved writing

After reading several of Greg Isles novels, I found this to be the best. It moved right along and the story was always engaging. It didn’t have the repetitiveness of his other novels. Fascinating and thoughtful read. As always, Dick Hill is an amazing narrator.

The Backstory

I love Greg Iles. He is likely my favorite author. Iles’ “Mississippi Burning trilogy” is, in my opinion, among the greatest works in American Historical Fiction.
I just completed his “The Footprints Of God,” novel and it didn’t disappoint, The book is immaculately researched, and flawlessly written- But, must every stone and stick have a backstory -lol.

Not up to Greg’s standard

The build up to final stand was not great. There usually is more baseline information to make
The characters believable. The “bad “ guys had no redeemable traits, usually Greg gives stronger reasons for bad people to be bad.
