Publisher's summary

After narrowly surviving his last operation, Gabriel Allon, the wayward son of Israeli intelligence, has taken refuge behind the walls of the Vatican, where he is restoring one of Caravaggio's greatest masterpieces. But early one morning, he is summoned to St. Peter's Basilica by Monsignor Luigi Donati, the all-powerful private secretary to his Holiness Pope Paul VII. The body of a beautiful woman lies broken beneath Michelangelo's magnificent dome.

The Vatican police suspect suicide, though Gabriel believes otherwise. So, it seems, does Donati. But the monsignor is fearful that a public inquiry might inflict another scandal on the Church, and so he calls upon Gabriel to quietly pursue the truth - with one caveat.

"Rule number one at the Vatican," Donati said. "Don't ask too many questions."

Gabriel learns that the dead woman had uncovered a dangerous secret - a secret that threatens a global criminal enterprise that is looting timeless treasures of antiquity and selling them to the highest bidder. But there is more to this network than just greed. A mysterious operative is plotting an act of sabotage that will plunge the world into a conflict of apocalyptic proportions....

This was the first time listening/reading Daniel Silva. I will definitely listen to more of his books. I loved reading about the inner workings of the Vatican and mixed with assassins made for a great read

Perfection

This is my second time listening to this and what I've noticed is how awesome George Guidall is as the narrator. He is the best! It's been tough listening to the preceding books, knowing how good Guidall is and looking forward to his return to the series.

Great story. All the regular cast members are there A typically great Gabriel Allon book.

Wow is all I can say

I'm not sure I've enjoyed a book as much as this one. Silva is brilliant and the reader is a genius.

Ok

Guidall isn't the narrator for Gabriel Allon. It sounds like Mitch Rapp is now working for Israel

Brilliant Story - Poor Narration

What made the experience of listening to The Fallen Angel the most enjoyable?

I was so looking forward to hearing the Fallen Angel as I have read the book and have all of Daniel Silva's books and audio books he is such a great story teller, but was very disappointed with the narrator!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of George Guidall?

John Lee is the best narrator of Gabriel Allon stories (or any books for that matter), close 2nd is Phil Gigante, definitely NOT George Guidall his voice was the same for the all the characters, he spoke too fast, this was not a good listen!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The narrator made such a bad job of reading this brilliant book that I was very disappointed, to the stage of returning the audio book until someone else is reading it.

Any additional comments?

In future if I see George Guidall's name as narrator I will not purchase the book!

As always, Daniel Silva delivers!

The Fallen Angel takes you to the world of stolen artifacts and all those involved in acquiring and possesing them. The twists and turns made this book entertaining and captivating. I am never tired of being in the world of, Gabriel Allon.

Not Silva's best, but still good

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have read or listened to all of th Gabriel Alllon books, and this is not his best. It starts off a little slow, but then gets better. Also not one of my one of favorite narrators. He did not do a very good job of capturing the Israeli accents. The Ari Shamron voice was particularly weak.

What three words best describe George Guidall’s voice?

Unvaried, monotonous, limited.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Gabriel sitting at Ell Lavon's bedside.

Any additional comments?

Would still recommend it if you have listened to all of the otherSilva//Allon
books.
