Publisher's summary

A mother’s greatest wish—or darkest nightmare—comes true in this chilling classic audiobook thriller from the Master of Suspense, Dean Koontz.

“Koontz puts his readers through the emotional wringer.”–The Associated Press

In the year since her son Danny’s tragic death, Tina Evans has suffered incredible heartache. But now, with her Vegas show about to premiere, Tina might be ready to put her grief behind her and start over.

Until a shocking message appears on the chalkboard in Danny's room: NOT DEAD. Those two words send her on a terrifying journey from the bright lights of Las Vegas to the cold shadows of the High Sierras, where she uncovers a terrible secret.

Relevant,

This book will keep you mesmerized from the beginning. It is well written. And it will help to open one’s eyes in the midst of COVID-19.

4½ stars. VERY GOOD ~ better than expected

This book was very different from what I was expecting from the synopsis. It sounded very dark with the death of a child and a tormented mother. DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER. I totally enjoyed the book start to finish.

1981 Wuhan Virus Prediction?

Good story. Keeps your interest. But how in 1981 did the author predict a virus emanating from a bio warfare lab in Wuhan, China? That alone made the book worth the read (and price).

The coronavirus likeness is amazing

Koontz must have done some crazy in depth studying of what different countries were up to biological warfare. This is the first book of his that I have read. Which book of his should I read next?

It’s Just... Meh.

Spoilers...

The whole book is about her getting her son, and then it ends before they’re even totally out of danger. No follow through on how the bad guys get what’s coming to them, in fact the bad guys are mostly made out to be good guys just doing their jobs. Seems just like a blatant set up for a part 2. Bleh.

excellent narration

Another great Koontz novel, not as intense and complicated as some of his recent work, but a good story and excellent narration.

Superb

I read the original book in 1981. Enjoyed it immensely. This audible version was no less magnificent. I was totally engrossed in this version as well. Completely realistic

A Suspenseful story !

This was my first time listening to a book and a Dean Koontz book.
It was well written and flowed nicely.
Although, a few times the female character Tina became annoying it was overall a good book.
