Former combat pilot Jake Bronson believed the worst was behind him. But when a sophisticated terrorist cell shows up in his hometown, he's drawn into a conflict that threatens the heart and soul of every mother in America. The bonds of love and loyalty are tested as Jake and his friends are swept into a deadly chase that takes them from the beaches of California to the depths of the world's longest underground river, and finally to the remote jungles of the Venezuelan rain forest - where Jake discovers that it will take far more than his enhanced abilities to prevent what is coming.

Jake Bronson’s life is back to normal, until...

Following on from the events in ‘Brainrush’ Jake Bronson’s life is back to normal, until a terrorist tries to get payback for what Jake did at the end of the last book. Aware that all is not ok, Jake and his friends are hunted by an enemy they thought to be dead. This time the evil terrorist has even more sinister plans in store, not only do they want to make Jake pay but they are on American soil and about to release a toxin that will change America forever. When Jake finds out the extent of the plans, he and his gang of misfits make unlikely alliances in order to neutralise the threat….but will they make it on time?

I think I may be slightly in love with Jake Bronson – he is a hero everyone can support, he cares for his friends and family, willing to do whatever it takes to make them safe. Richard Bard is fast becoming one of my favourite authors, he really knows how to weave a fun and action-packed story. He has such a way with words that you cannot help but care for and identify with the characters. Although I’m not too fond with how he ends the books – It makes me crave the next audio book, thankfully I have the next one ready to go.

R.C.Bray is on fine form in this audio book, he has a great ability to grab the listener’s attention and not let go. I’ll be honest, I have done absolutely nothing today but listen to this audio book, that’s over 10 heavenly hours of enjoyment. The production is flawless and the addition of the music at the beginning and end of the audio book adds an air of suspense. If you haven’t yet spent any time with Mr. Bray may I suggest you start, it really is a fun experience. Start with the first book in this series though.

Be prepared for a 10 hour adrenalin rush!!

Brainrush I was awesome. Brainrush II is "off the graph" - Wish I could have rated this higher than a five in all categories. For those of you old enough to remember the Saturday Morning "Cliffhangers" at the local movie theater: This book has enough cliffhangers in it to fill about 300 movie clips. Our Hero and his entourage find themselves in more impossible events than possible to count. Thank goodness the "rabbit comes out of the hat" just in time. Listened to this book virtually non-stop except for a few hours of sleep. Can't wait for the sequel. This narrator is also terrific. Hard to believe there is just one narrator involved. He is a total genius and I'll be looking for more books narrated by RC Bray. Plot was good. Characters well-defined and plausible. Hope to see many more books of the same genre from this author and narrator!! You definitely will not be disappointed!!

Exhausting

What about R. C. Bray’s performance did you like?

I liked how he did the voice of the bad guy. It had to have hurt, but it sounded really cool and true to the story description.

Any additional comments?

The story was action scene after action scene with our hero barely getting out of each scrape, sometimes pretty miraculously, most of the time just way over the top. It was fun at first, but by the end of the book I just wanted it to be over. I was exhausted from the endless series of narrow escapes and tough guy attitude. In the second novel I was expecting a litte more character depth and development. Instead it seemed to be more of the same as the first novel with few new developments other than lots of action.

No 3d glasses required!!

The book reads like scenes in an engaging movie. After reading the first two books of Brainrush's Trilogy, my only disappointment was that his third book was not yet within my reach. When I looked on his web sight to find out that book three will be out before the end of the year, I found on his home page, a sample of his audio version of Brainrush 2. Wow! R. C. Bray took me right back into the story again.

Really good audible book EXCEPT FOR!!!

What disappointed you about The Enemy of my Enemy?

GD GD GD GD GD GD GD I would of gave rave reviews except for the taking of the Lords name in vain . I don't like getting interested in a really good book and the auther runs out of intelligent words to say.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The fight between good and evil.

Which character – as performed by R. C. Bray – was your favorite?

Tony

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It had real life feel even with the alien situation , I related that more to spiritual being intervention than with the area 51 scenerio.

Almost as good as the first book

Would you consider the audio edition of The Enemy of My Enemy to be better than the print version?

I rarely get time to sit down and read books so I do prefer audio books for that reason. I do love to read, but I have more time available when driving to listen to books.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters commitment to each other.

What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He gives depth to the characters by the different voices and emotions in his narration.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could break this one up more than the first book.

Any additional comments?

While I did find the story very compelling, I also felt that the independent vigilantly violence got a bit out of hand to the point that it was hard to stay quite as connected to the story. Made it more unbelievable.

Adrenaline Candy for my overworked mind

Would you consider the audio edition of The Enemy of My Enemy to be better than the print version?

N/A

Who was your favorite character and why?

Not sure

Which scene was your favorite?

Not sure

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Great action - kept me alert and interested, without getting frustrated: Just like the Farrelly brother's new Three Stooges keep you laughing as gag breaks upon gag, Jake and company's obstacles keeps you jacked on suspense as complication gets piled onto complication. What's great though, is that the complications are resolved and the plot moves forward, so there isn't the sense of stalling out that can frustrate readers when things pile up. As the complications are resolved, we learn more about the characters and the plan and the plot is moved forward.
Very clever solutions to problems. You don't see the same resolution over and over.

Any additional comments?

I'd like to know more about the complexity of the obolisk or inverted pyramid. Not more simple knowledge, but more paradoxes and hints into it's communications and functions. Also, how about some heightened emotions as well as heightened intellect and speed. Heightened empathy, clarified anger, I don't know . . . just a heightening of everything.
Nice writing!

Adrenaline RUSH - BRAINRUSH II

I have to admit a teensy part of me was worried that BRAINRUSH II wouldn't be as good, as BRAINRUSH, the first book. Well folks, worry NO MORE! Grab a parachute, floatation device, helmet, plenty of weapons, flashlight, water and MREs, for this action-packed, adrenaline laced trip.

Don't forget to immediately, put on your parachute, you'll be needing it to dodge the bad guys. I hope you aren't afraid of water and can hold your breath, for a long, LONG time! You are saving the world from the "Bad Guys" so you'll need lots of weapons, help from unlikely sources and a lot of Aussie ingenuity to save your ASSets! You may think you have a bad case of Exploding Head Syndrome, except you won't need a doctor. Richard Bard's excellent description, of the characters and NON-STOP action scenes, place you right into the middle of the excitement. Twists and turns galore, throughout the book, with an ending that surprised me!

Strap yourself in. . . and get ready for a FANTASTIC Adventure!

Great Job Richard, LOVED it, highly recommend and CAN'T wait for BRAINRUSH III!
