Superb

Would you listen to The Enemy: Victor the Assassin, Book 2 again? Why?

I'm currently on my fourth listen in the last year or so.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Victor is the only answer to this question.

What does Rob Shapiro bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Rob Shapiro is very dry and calculated, and I mean that in a good way. He is the perfect voice to portray the slightly bleak world view that exists in this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I certainly could listen to the entirety of this book in one long car ride if I ever found myself in that situation.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to a hundred books in this genre over the past few years and simply put, this is a shining example of what a modern thriller should be. The whole series is fantastic, but this book in particular is flawless. Believable plot and characters without sacrificing drama, this book manages to be epic in scale and local at the same time. Bravo.

New Victor the Assassin book on 8-2-2016

A Time to Die, Victor the Assassin Book 6, is scheduled for release on August 2, 2016. I'm confident that the audiobook will be released on the same day. The audiobook is not available to preorder at Audible yet.

This is part of my attempt to review some espionage thrillers that I listened to prior to writing reviews at Audible. Like Ben Coes and Mark Greaney, British author Tom Wood began publishing espionage novels in 2010, but I do not consider Tom Wood to be in the same class as Coes, Greaney, or even Brad Taylor who published his first espionage thriller very early in 2011. The reasons include the fact that Victor the Assassin novels are not as well researched for geographic authenticity. More importantly Victor has not developed; he remains a cold blooded killer without a hint of humanity or remorse. I explain more completely in my 10/16/2015 two star review of Wood's The Darkest Day.

The Enemy is Book 2 of the Victor series. I believe it is the best of the first five books in the series and it is a solid 5 star listen. Rob Shapiro narrates the Victor series wonderfully well.

Good plot, but a bit tiresome

The story was well organized, but I am beginning to see a pattern with the action sequences. I will bet the next 'Victor the Assassin' book will be just as pedantic with regards to the ending combat scene.

Second book every bit as much fun as the first

Story holds together, is complex but still makes sense. And our killer is still a badass. So much fun!

Almost to the End

If you could sum up The Enemy: Victor the Assassin, Book 2 in three words, what would they be?

Hold Your Breathe

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Enemy: Victor the Assassin, Book 2?

Each time he saves someone because he has morals. Not many, but some.

Which scene was your favorite?

In the restaurant, when he whispers instructions to save a life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Assassin to the death

Any additional comments?

I read the first Victor and prayed there were others. Thank goodness there are! I am in love. The narrator is perfection. The words are so descriptive that it's a match. I can envision the book all the way. I am almost done but I don't want it to end. Cannot imagine any other narrator. Great series.

Good

I like this series. The narrator does a good job of keeping it exciting. You know Victor is going to be alright but sometimes I wonder how he's going to get out of this one. All my heroes are named Jack except one. Victor.

You will really enjoy the series

Me and my husband have been listening to the series and it reminds us a lot about the grey man series, if you enjoy fast-paced assassin books with an empathetic main character you will really enjoy this assassin. You will find yourself rooting for Victor the assassin versus the "" good guys " I really enjoyed the series and I hope more comes.
