Publisher's summary

It was to become known as the most daring enemy mission of the entire war: Operation Eagle, SS Reichsfurher Heinrich Himmler's audacious plan to kidnap Winston Churchill on British soil in November 1943.

But, despite spectacular secrecy, there was to be no surrender without a fight....For in a remote corner of Norfolk, an elite unit is gathered together, ready to do battle for a nation against the most ruthless task force ever assembled.

What an amazing story!

What an amazing story! Jack really pulled it all together from secrets and then unwilling to tell it.

The author has written a brilliant novel, altho I have already heard the story before in a movie, it was none the less a great read! The narration is fantastic and brings the characters to life!

Nazis, Spies and Love

If you're a WWII buff, enjoy spy stories, or just enjoy a good story with romance, intrigue, and adventure, you'll really enjoy this book. The author challenges you to decide if it's true, or even plausible. It certainly seems plausible to me, and I would not be surprised to find out about dozens of other similar stories of WWII.

A great read

I read this book 30 years ago and loved it then. listening to it now has been really interesting. I had forgotten much of the minutiae of the story, but the central story was as good as ever.

Better than the film.

I had seen the film twice over time before listening to this unabridged Audio book. As usual, books have far more depth than a film. It was a very pleasant surprise to listen to the epilogue which sited the truth of the events and the post story histories of the people involved.

A Classic: The Eagle Has Landed

I have read many of Jack Higgins's books and enjoyed them all but none as much as The Eagle Has Landed. The characterizations bring each person in the story to life and the pace quickens almost exponentially to a most unexpected denouncement. Liam Devlin, rogue that he is, figures as one of the most likeable of enemies. There are so many really good people caught up in the evils of war interlaced with each other and the fabric of a small, out of the way coastal village that the tale flows so fluidly that before you realize the passage of time you have turned the last page. A rare treat.
