In To Shield the Queen, we were introduced to Ursula Blanchard, lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth I and one of the most entrancing mystery heroines to come along in many a season. Having once saved the Virgin Queen from political disaster, now young Ursula faces an even greater challenge. Some of her old acquaintances may be plotting to overthrow Elizabeth in favor of Mary, Queen of Scots, and the re-establishment of the Catholic faith. Secretary of State Sir William Cecil needs a spy in the Mason home, and Ursula is the obvious choice.
Torn between her devotion to Elizabeth and her longing to be reunited with her exiled Catholic husband in France, Ursula makes a difficult bargain that balances personal happiness against duty to Queen and country. Her journey takes her into dangerous territory, and whatever happens, she will never again be quite as trusting or secure.

"May offers an outstanding reading... She has distinct and appropriate voices for each character and keeps the book moving along quickly." (Kliatt)
Anything read by Nadia May is fun for your ears. Her "French" accent fills me with delight. The book itself is a tad more serious. Set during the reign of Elizabeth I, it again deals with the conflicts between the "new" faith and the Catholics. There are some interesting twists in the plot. Very enjoyable.
If you have some time the book is great, but it is a bit long winded. The history errors in the story are explained at the end of the book, to my satisfaction.
This book is one that I have listened to over and over again. It is ranked high on my list of must reads
Yes it kept me on edge.,,When Ms. Blanchard was rescuing Brockley.
Ms. McCaddon is also a great narrator for this book. Easy listen and clear voice.
Yes..when she saw her husband again.
