Few can compete with the Natasha Smith when it comes to entertaining, but her childhood rival, Sophie Winston, certainly tries. While Natasha is known for her intricate centerpieces and painstakingly prepared gourmet meals, Sophie likes to keep things simple...real simple.
Natasha may have stolen the spotlight - and Sophie's husband - but Sophie is determined to take home the prize at the Stupendous Stuffing Shakedown. She just needs the right ingredients... However, Sophie's search for the perfect turkey takes a basting when she stumbles across a corpse. And when the police find her name and photo inside the victim's car, they think she has some explaining to do. Sophie will have to set her trussing aside to solve the murder - or she'll be serving up prison grub - and that definitely wouldn't be a good thing.

"A mouth-watering mix of murder, mirth, and mayhem." (Mary Jane Maffini)
This is a specific type of cozy that I really don't enjoy. Many people clearly do, but for me they don't work. Specifically, the type of cozy that is just absolutely filled with annoying, demanding, mean and/or entitled characters. The main character is attractive and interesting, but in the first few chapters we're introduced to her bratty, self centered, spoiled brat of a "little" sister (over forty but acting like 15), the sisters icky fiancé, her destructively critical and continually carping mother, her "friend" who's constantly sniping, criticizing, and running her down (and also stole her husband), and a random cop who isn't interested in evidence just in bullying the main character to make himself feel tough. This is just a brief selection of some of the irritating characters we're treated to early on. There is another cop who seems nice, and is probably the romantic lead, but he's not sure about the main character because the obvious fact she's being framed is just too difficult for him to grasp. While some people like this sort of thing in a cozy for reasons that I don't understand, I prefer my cozies to be filled with largely attractive and fun characters since I read for pleasure and escape from the annoyances of the world, not to exacerbate them. I freely admit I didn't even come close to finishing this book, I only stuck with it as long as I did because the narrator is so excellent. I'll be looking for more books that she has read, but not from this series.
I had read another book in the series and really enjoyed it before listening to the audible book. At first I thought it wouldn't be good because the narrator's voice for the southern characters were so over the top. But once I got past it, the book started flowing and I got really really interested in it, and found the book enjoyable. I still didn't like the southern voice but thankfully was able to get past that.
Sophie is good at what she does and is very nice person. Those around her take full advantage her good nature She needs to stand up for herself!
Loved her voice! She does great accents and instills each character with their own personality. Hilary is one of the main reasons I've listened to the other Krista Davis "Diva" novels
This is a very good book. The only thing I did not like about the book is that the lead character is too nice. I would highly reccomend this book.
Yes, I would try another book by this author and narrator.
I found the book a mish-mash and a total confusionfest. Maybe it would be easier to follow in a written book, but I couldn't track who was who.
Nasal but great voices.
No. I wish I had chosen something else.
Too many characters! I felt like it was one of those madcap mysteries with people running in and out of rooms and opening and closing doors and it was just a big mess.
Characters are great as is story! Just wish all her domestic diva books are on audible!!! Loved the plot too!
This is the first in the series. It has family and friends, wonderful animals, some non sweaty romance, and outstanding characters. it has decorating and cooking divas, and you'll love to groan about Natasha.
The scenes all flow one to the next well, but anytime Natasha is on she a blast.
I hope all the series get to be oral books.
