Publisher's summary

In this exciting sequel to the acclaimed Dead I Well May Be, the mercenary Michael Forsythe is forced to infiltrate an Irish terrorist cell, confronting murder, mayhem, and the prospect of his own execution.

Michael is on holiday in Spain when a soccer riot between the Paddies and the Brits escalates out of control and he winds up in a Spanish prison. Enter Samantha, a beautiful British Intelligence agent. She makes Michael an offer he can't refuse: instead of extradition to Mexico to serve time for a prison break, he can infiltrate an IRA sleeper cell in the United States. Thrust into the nightmare world of men known for their distinctive brands of torture and revenge, Michael crosses and double-crosses key players, narrowly escapes his own lies, loses his only ally, and falls for the daughter of his enemy.

Don't miss these other noir thrillers in the Michael Forsythe series: Dead I Well May Be (Unabridged) and The Bloomsday Dead (Unabridged).

I'm in love !

This is the second straight through listen in a row. Thank God I know there is another, or I would be so sad! You just can't help but love the main character. Jump in, right after you have listened to the first one!

Just as good 17 years later!

LOVED this book in 2006 and now again in 2023. Redolent of The Dublin Murder Squad. Outstanding story telling and narration.

I stayed up til 2 am

I usually listen in the car. I opted to continue with this story instead of TV. I stayed up until 2 am listening to the end. The story was so intense, I didn't want to stop.

my short story

Here's my short story. I read all Sean Duffy 3-book series by this author first. Took a break. Read the first of the Michael Forsythe books (Dead I may well be), and thought it was just ok. I didn't think I was going to continue with the series. But, I decided to give this second book in the forsythe series a go and I'm glad I did. This is the best book I've read by this author yet. I really thought this was a superb book and superb narration. If there were a hundred books by this author and narrator combo, I'd buy every single one of them!

slow at first

The beginning of this book didn't hook me butsince I had paid for it I continued to listen. Once the action began however I would just drive around aimlessly so I could listen to more. I purchased the next in the series as soon as I finished this one.

Highly Recommended

As soon as I was done with this book I downloaded everything I could from Adrian McKinty. The action was fast the use of language was fantastic, the characters were believeable, the suspense was taut. This was one of the best finds I have stumbled accross in quite a while. Hit 'add to cart' and you will not be sorry with this download.

Another masterpiece for unabridged listening!

I truly enjoy gritty fare like this, and for me the combination of Adrian McGinty's precise prose and Gerard Doyle's flawless narration is sublime. I mistakenly listened to "The Dead Yard" before hearing "Dead I Well May Be", to which it is a sequel, but McGinty's complete, complex talent for storytelling make this book stand easily alone, although I'm eager to read the previous book now. I had earlier read "Hidden River", and I connected better with the protagonist in that book, but "Dead Yard" was a great and powerful thriller with edge-of-your-seat moments that are rarely delivered so well in audio format. A wonderful experience; highly recommended to all fans of political thrillers, action novels, character studies and unabridged, literary fiction.

Favorite author and favorite narrator!

Second book in the Michael Forsythe trilogy. So dark with complex characters who leave you guessing. I am captivated by this flawed hero whose world is covered in brutality. I also love the prose which pulls me deeper into each scenerio.

Also narrator Gerald Doyle does an outstanding job bringing singular identity to each character.

Great writing, quite violent

I really like the writing and narration, and it's quite gripping. There are a few passages that are quite gruesome, so it's not for the faint of heart.

This series--quite addictive!

The narrator is simply the best. Ive heard no one better. I love it that the main characters are all Irish, and Mr. Doyle's lovely accent helps to take u into the story, away... In the Michael Forsythe series there r no dull moments.
