Publisher's summary

The Denver Post hails Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire mystery series as a must-read. Joining the four previous novels - all of which have been Book Sense picks - The Dark Horse puts a unique Wyoming twist on the classic British village mystery.

Sheriff Longmire investigates when his instincts tell him something isn't right about a prisoner accused of killing her husband. Wade Barsad, a man with a dubious past, locked his wife's horses in their barn and burned the animals alive. In return, Mary shot Wade in the head six times - or so the story goes. Walt doesn't believe Mary's confession, and he's determined to dig deeper. Posing as an insurance claims investigator, Walt soon discovers other people who might have wanted Wade dead, including a beautiful Guatemalan bartender and a rancher with a taste for liquor, but not for honesty.

The Dark Horse is sure to build on the success of Another Man's Moccasins as Sheriff Longmire unpins his star and ventures into a town without pity to save a woman without hope.

Never disappoints

I have read the first 5 in this series. George Guidall is Longmire! He brings these characters to life. The stories are filled with interesting , unusual and familiar characters. Great sense of humor too.
I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Not the best story

Not his best story. Past books I never thought lets get going within the book. This book I said it a number of times. Hope future books will be better.

Another excellent book

I love Craig Johnson's book. The characters are so alive you can't help but love them. I also love the Indian lore. The descriptions of the western United States inspires me to visit. Plan too listen to all his books. Listen you will love them.

Took two laps to sort the story out.

Narration by George Guidall is excellent and an extra interview with both author and narrator was a nice perk.

Undercover in town of 40

This was an enjoyable book, and so it took a little bit of getting used to the continuous switch back in days. I was finally able to get caught up in the flow. Interesting plot didn’t have a shocking ending, but it was a good one. When the last chapter ends, stay tuned for the interview with the author Craig Johnson..
