Publisher's Summary

Now a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou.

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call: the elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum. Near the body, police have found a baffling cipher. While working to solve the enigmatic riddle, Langdon is stunned to discover it leads to a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see, yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

Langdon joins forces with a gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, and learns the late curator was involved in the Priory of Sion, an actual secret society whose members included Sir Isaac Newton, Botticelli, Victor Hugo, and Da Vinci, among others.

In a breathless race through Paris, London, and beyond, Langdon and Neveu match wits with a faceless powerbroker who seems to anticipate their every move. Unless Langdon and Neveu can decipher the labyrinthine puzzle in time, the Priory's ancient secret, and an explosive historical truth, will be lost forever.

As a special bonus, this audio edition includes Dan Brown's October 2005 speech at the University of New Hampshire, introduced by his father. The author discusses the research behind his groundbreaking novel and the controversy it has created. Also, listen to an exclusive interview with Akiva Goldsman, screenwriter of The Da Vinci Code.

Knowledge is knowing the way. Wisdom is looking for an alternative, more interesting road to get there. Audiobooks are that road.

    "Interesting Premise"

Unlike some others, I didn't mind the different accents the narrator used. I find it very helpful when there are many different personalities in the book. I enjoyed this listen and I did not find that being abridged was a problem. Possibly if I had read the book in advance I would have felt I was missing something, but because I had not, the story flowed just fine.
It was great from beginning right to the end.

"One of the best thrillers EVER written!"

Brown really does fortify his reputation as an extremely skilled thriller writer. There is genuine page-turning suspense that's not often found in books. As Nelson DeMiller said, "this is pure genius." One of the best thrillers EVER written. Beware of an orchestrated effort by the Right Wing to demean the book by posting scathing reviews. Get this book! And, then go out and buy the hard cover, to further support the author. I can't wait to see the movie.

    "Brilliantly Written"

Found it hard to walk away from read till it was finished. The narration was the best i've heard yet. Seemed there was action every 2 or 3 minutes.

"A wonderfl mystery, with a touch of romance"

The flow of the story is just right in this mystery. Action unfolds from a first-person perspective from different characters at different times, but they complement each other, and create an energetic tale!

    "Very entertaining!"

The logical and historical description(s) of the holy grail is/are what makes this entertaining. Sure the plot may seem a bit predictable and the characters somewhat contrived- not to mention the hideous/hilarious accents by the reader- but this book wasn't meant to win a Nobel Prize. This is just entertainment and to that end, this book satisfies. Nothing more, nothing less.

But what if, given the theme of the book, this work of fiction is a way of injecting, into society at large, curiosity about a hidden truth? We may never know...

    "Abridged version misses a lot"

My wife listened to the book and was disappointed in what she had heard from friends and family versus what she listened too. She is now going to read the book, but is frustrated since the book cut out a lot of the material that her friends have talked about. I wish I would have seen the word "abridged" before purchasing the title.

"Holy cow, this book is great!"

My wife and I were totally in awe of the amount of information in this mystery thriller. One seems to learn an important fact in nearly every paragraph. The characters are alive with charm, intelligence, and villiany. We hated when we had to tear ourselves away from the story. I sometimes snuck a peak at future cd's when she was not around. My heartiest recommendation for fun and factual enrichment.

"Lesson learned: read reviews before downloading"

This was my first ever audible.com book. The plot seemed to unfold in a forced manner, driven by revelations by the characters that seemed to occur at implausible times. It did manage to hold my interest, but those like me with Christian backgrounds may find the subject matter downright dorky.

"You may have this before in other books..."

You may have read about the theories behind this story before in other books such as HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL (1983). If you are already familiar with these theories then you may want to pass on this novel because it will be too easy for you to predict the plot twists.
