Publisher's summary

The US Speaker of the House is assassinated in a terrifyingly precise execution in the heart of Washington, DC. In a quieter corner of the nation's capital, the rare book room of the Library of Congress, a reclusive, wealthy scholar drops dead under mysterious circumstances that leave no clues. Following on the heels of the natural death of the Speaker of the House, the city and the nation begin to tremble. In California, a beautiful but capable woman is planning and executing one of the most brilliant cons on record.

All the while, "Oliver Stone" and his quirky Camel Club stand by and observe as the genius of their collective perspective begins to connect the dots between these seemingly disparate events - and they realize they must act, and act quickly, before their country falls victim to a silent yet bloody coup.

The precision of story delivery.

I liked everything and look forward to another book from David Barack as I love his writing style.

Read the book or listen at 2.0x speed

The narration is brutal. I've tried listening to it twice and couldn't do it. Due to my job though, I'm always traveling. I tried listening at 2.0x speed, and it actually was a lot better.

Not a big fan of the Stone series

This is not an uninteresting story. However, it is not up to pay for Baldacci. The rag-tag Camel Club is simply not realistic enough to be believable for a thriller novel. It stretches the ability of one to suspend disbelief that Oliver Stone and his group can be some group of super-sleuths. His interfacing with the Secret Service and friend Alex Ford is the height of this unbelievability. I would prefer that Baldacci focus more on his Sean King characters. I feel they are much more believable and interesting.

Another Action Packed Adventure

Would you consider the audio edition of The Collectors to be better than the print version?

I love Audio books because I don't have time to read the print book. I love Audio books because I can listen to a good book while I do hours of data entry. I love Audio books because I can listen in bed when I can't sleep. Not interested in buying the same story twice in two formats, what a silly idea??

What did you like best about this story?

I love the Misfit Four! They make a wonderfully nosy bunch of accidental heros! I really like the quiet way they go about righting wrongs even when they have to deal with bodies. Adding Annabel to the story is a real interesting move that I hope only adds to the excitement. Sometimes, it breaks up the team but I suspect she'll only add spice.

Any additional comments?

I want the whole series!!!

Fabulous!

Typical Baldacci, great characters and good plots. Always a favorite and never disapoints. A good sequal to the Camel Club.

Not my favorite Baldacci.

Obviously setting up for another book which I don't mind but was very much two seperate books. the reading could have been softer. Every character had a know it all confidence in their tone that began to drive me crazy. maybe it was just me...

Very slow start

What did you like best about The Collectors? What did you like least?

The narration is distracting. I almost stopped listening to it after a couple of hours. This book has the most boring beginning I've had to listen to in a long time. Not one of Baldacci's best books.

Would you ever listen to anything by David Baldacci again?

Narration was not a problem

I did not find the narration as bothersome as other listeners did. It was a fun story and the narration did not detract from that.

Distraction production quality.

Fabulously concocted plot, great characters, pretty good readers. I noted two or three mispronounced words. The obviously inserted 'Caleb said', 'Anabel commented', etc tags were very distracting. Other Baldacci books have better production quality.

Good book. Glitches/skips in audio

It was a good story. Love Baldaccci. The recording had several glitches or skip in the recording. But frustrating.
