Publisher's summary

The US Speaker of the House is assassinated in a terrifyingly precise execution in the heart of Washington, DC. In a quieter corner of the nation's capital, the rare book room of the Library of Congress, a reclusive, wealthy scholar drops dead under mysterious circumstances that leave no clues. Following on the heels of the natural death of the Speaker of the House, the city and the nation begin to tremble. In California, a beautiful but capable woman is planning and executing one of the most brilliant cons on record.

All the while, "Oliver Stone" and his quirky Camel Club stand by and observe as the genius of their collective perspective begins to connect the dots between these seemingly disparate events - and they realize they must act, and act quickly, before their country falls victim to a silent yet bloody coup.

Interesting and keeps you thinking

I am intrigued with the amount of hidden details in Baldacci books that keep you thinking.

Just okay

This book is not as good as The Camel Club. It is slow and the story line is not as interesting. The main male reader is not as good as the one in the first book either. I hope the third book in this series is better than the second book in the series. I’m going to give it a try and see if I like it.

Narrator does no favors

Baldacci always writes a clever plot. His characters are well described and their narration was good, but the main narrator’s inflection was all wrong during conversations among them. “He said, she said, he commented, etc. did not flow at all through the spoken dialog. It was annoying. Don’t let it dissuade your from the story; it is a good yarn.

Simply Thrilling

I just can't get enough of David Baldacci!! Despite not being Scott Brick or Ron McLarty, the narration was good. The tale of these men solving these murders in the Capital is spell binding. I don't want to get out of my car when listening. But if I didn't, I would have little to lok forward to.

Love the Camel Club Series

Oh how many times I’ve listened to this entire series and am just sad Mr Baldacci has not written another book about Oliver and his group of enduring and lovable misfits. Annabelle certainly is a delightful and entertaining addition. My hope that in that fertile and complex mind of David Baldacci is yet another Camel Club adventure.

Better than the first Camel Club

If you could sum up The Collectors in three words, what would they be?

Great old books

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Pretty much. Never knew how the story was going to go.

Any additional comments?

I think it was this book where there is a woman who reads the Annabelle part. Her sections seemed spliced with the male reader. There was clearly a different background ambient sound and very different recording of her voice. I found that distracting. Poor production.

Narration better than expected

Would you listen to The Collectors again? Why?

Well, now that I know how it ends, why would I?
It's a good book by a good author.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes it did

Which scene was your favorite?

Caleb before and during his surprise interview with the police.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes
When Annabelle, against her own best interest decided to stay and work on the case

Any additional comments?

I was wary about purchasing this book because of the reviews that panned the multiple narrators. I had never listened to a multiple narration before and thought I would probably find it distracting. Actually, my experience was the opposite.
