Publisher's summary

In Los Angeles in 1988, a 16-year-old girl disappeared from her home and was later found dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. The death appeared at first to be a suicide, but some of the evidence contradicted that scenario, and detectives came to believe this was in fact a murder. Despite a by-the-book investigation, no one was ever charged.

Now Detective Harry Bosch is back with the LAPD with the sole mission of closing unsolved cases, and this girl's death is the first he's given. A DNA match makes the case very much alive again, and it turns out to be anything but cold. The ripples from this death have destroyed at least two other lives, and everywhere he probes, Bosch finds hot grief, hot rage, and a bottomless well of betrayal and malice.

And it's not just the girl's family and friends whose lives Bosch is stirring up afresh. With each new development, Harry Bosch finds increasing resistance from within the police force itself. Old enemies are close at hand. Even as he pushes relentlessly to find the truth, Bosch has to wonder if this assignment was intended to be his last. Digging up the past may heal old wounds, or it may expose new, searing ones.

From the mind of the man GQ has called "the best mystery writer in the world", The Closers is a masterpiece of thriller writing that is as sharp and immediate as the greatest fiction.

Critic reviews

"In Connelly/Bosch's world, character, context, and procedure are what count, and once again the author proves a master at all....Connelly comes as close as anyone to being today's Dostoyevsky of crime literature, and this is one of his finest novels to date." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Harry sticks to his knitting and delivers a sharp, straightforward police procedural." ( The New York Times)

Bosch is back!

I have yet to read all of the Harry Bosch series, but with the handful I've read, I would say that this book ranks right up there. Connelly is a well-researched author, and that's what makes these stories so believable. With this book, I felt like I was on a long ride-along with the detectives. The details were superb and the emotions palpable. I enjoyed this book very much, and I LOVE the title. I know, it's sort of silly to say anything about a title, but it's more than that because that's what Harry has become - a "closer". I think this leaves hundreds of possibilities, and I can't wait for the next one.

I love these Bosch novels

I love listening to these when I'm driving, they don't distract me like music does. I find it hard to wait to get back in the car so I can listen again.

Glad to have a great narrator, again!

In the first few books of this series, there was a wonderful narrator that made me fall in love with each Harry Bosch book. Then, it all changed. He wasn't there- there were some other narrators that couldn't quite hold a candle to the first guy. But now, they have gotten back on track with another great narrator! This series is one that I will come back to! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hooked on Harry Bosch!

What did you love best about The Closers: Harry Bosch Series, Book 11?

I stumbled on to this series and am so glad I did!

What other book might you compare The Closers: Harry Bosch Series, Book 11 to and why?

Similar to other cop novels with the troubled detective who can't quite follow the rules but who has a soft side. But I like those kind of characters, John Luther, Myron Bolitar, Lucas Davenport....

Any additional comments?

If you love good characters with great mysteries, read this series.

Connelly did it again

The Closers more than met my expectations. The commadarie between Bosch and his partners is commendable. This book seem to leave unanswered questions about the tow truck driver. It was still an exceptionally written mystery. Narrator is my third favorite of the Bosch series.

Please get rid of the music. It’s pretty distracting to me

The random music is a distraction from the story at the end of chapters. Cut it out

Always delivers

This was a good listen. Harry displays single mindedness to his detriment in solving this case. It was a good example of what thoughts of getting even will do to oneself.
