Another Great Koontz Story
It took a couple of chapters for me to really get into this book, but once I did I was hooked on the story. Typical Koontz story with just enough of the "mystery unknown" included. I was surprised to see this book was nominated for something like "Best Horror" in 2014. I'm not sure I would call it a horror story however.
The narrator?? YES YES YES!! Korey Jackson nailed it perfectly!!

The Best Attitude

Unexpectedly Enjoying
I was looking for a free book. I was surprised to see a Dean Koonz book as a selection. At first I was not that interested. The narrator had a great voice so I continued. I enjoyed some of the historical aspects as well.

She is the City
I choose this book for Dean Koontz. I was expecting “odd Thomas” a mystery thriller, this is not that genre. Although, it was his great writing the story was very different. A great story told by the man who lived it. The story of a life of one of the city’s people.

Enjoyable
I wasn’t sure about this story at first but as it progressed the gentleness of the story and the narrator just drew me along. At one point I stopped and commented to myself “This is a nice story”. I so appreciated the wisdom and kindness that kept filtering in. Surprising and touching.

Excellent read!
Although the beginning is a little slow, once it picks up, it never slows down! Each character is completely developed, so you know who you’re dealing with when they show up. Although the main character will frequently make you forget how old he is, his child-like ability to just accept the extraordinary as fact will remind you to be more… childlike. I love it.
