In this gripping thriller, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.
Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.
When her former handler offers her a way out, she realises it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.
Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.
In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialised skill set. And she shows once again why she's one of the world's best-selling authors.

"Held my attention and amazing characters"
I loved this book. I am Stephenie Meyer fan and my favourite book is the Host. I was expecting this book to be the 2nd in the series (the seeker) but i'm not disappointed as this is a great book.
This book has no supernatural element to it but has three great characters that I couldn't get enough of. The lead role is female and she is a strong character who can look after her self from the very start of the book! There are so many great scenes where she kicks ass of strong male characters which is fab. There is of course a love story of course but it isn't the main focus of the story :)
I love the way Stephanie writes as the story flows well, very catchy and characters you feel for very quickly. Give it a go!
"Not for veterans of the "Thriller genre."
Perhaps a good book for younger readers or those just beginning their foray into the world of "thrillers". The blurb led me to expect more intrigue and depth than this story delivered and I feel that "young adult fiction" should be a sub-heading. The narrator is clearly very talented (excellent male character voices, I thought) and would be well-suited to a range of performances, however in this case, she invested no drama or tension into the story-telling, which for me, detracted from any sense of suspense or involvement. I stuck with it to the end in case something happened to redeem this book but unfortunately it didn't. Just not for me I suppose and I'd be delighted if I could write nearly as well as this author, however this misses the mark in my opinion, for what that's worth as a non-author.
"Twilight all grown up and really worth the read"
I loved this audio it was well written and read. I am a massive fan of the twilight saga and simply read this book due to that but the Chemist is so much more than I expected and the suspense is so good at times its painful.
Simply awful. Please do not waste a credit on this book. The narration was coma inducing. I nearly quit several times but it isn't in my nature to.
"Edge of the seat thriller"
I couldn't put this book down. The main character is an ex government employee, an interrogator, who has to go on the run when the government decides to eliminate her. There is some romance, and plenty of James Bond style action. If you have read Stephenie Meyer's previous books, this one is very different in that there is nothing supernatural about it, but there are hints of the The Host in there nevertheless. The characters are brilliantly developed, as is the plot line, and there is never a dull moment. The narrator does a brilliant job of bringing the characters to life. Highly recommended to anyone.
wasnt expecting to like this if im honest as not my usual type of book! but i loved it, couldnt stop listening.
"Listened to twice in a row"
This is the best audio book I have listened to, liking it so much that I listened to it twice in a row
One of the most memorable moment for me is in the barn and without trying to give anything away, the way the power moves from one character to another and how the different ways they act and move is described and read so well
A moment that particularly moved me was the action at the vets and how all of the characters were involved and also had an input in moving the story forward
If you did not like the Twilight series, this isn't a reason to ignore this book, it is a very different story.I really hope Stephanie Meyer is going to either write more books like this, or even a prequel that gives more of the Chemists back story
I also really enjoyed the way the book was read, and I am sure this added to my enjoyment. It is the first book I have listened to that Ellen Archer has read, but I very much doubt it will be the last.
This is a entertaining action/adventure story. Well drawn characters and great details make the action believable. Some good twists and turns keep the narrative going. The narrator does a good job and brings the characters to life.
"Good story although be warned,it's pretty violent in places"
I'm not embarrassed to say that I really do enjoy Stephenie Meyer's books. This book is clearly written by her, you can tell by the style and cadence is the story. However be warned, I'm not going to include spoilers but I will say there are some graphic descriptions of torture in this book, this isn't a book to read just because it's written by the author of the Twilight Saga. The story is actually better than I thought it might be from the description.
"Thoroughly enjoyed it"
have enjoyed thigh light saga an the host, this latest book by Stephanie Meyer I enjoyed just the same.
