A trained killer and former FBI agent, Steve Vail despises authority, and he's never met a rule he didn't break. These days, he's working as a bricklayer when the FBI contacts him, desperate for his help: someone is killing their operatives. To stem the tide of murders, Vail must re-enter a world he hoped he left behind long ago - his own past.

"A good discovery"
This is the first book I have listened to by this author, but I hope it won't be the last. There was good characterisation and exciting twists and turns, and although the ending was obvious from a long way back, the journey was extremely enjoyable. The narrator was perfect for the book, making all the characters very individual. I listened to it all in one go - I just couldn't bear to stop in case I missed something! An excellent listen that I highly recommend.
A fast moving plot, a likeable hero, lots of twists to keep your mind alert. I did suss out one twist and was duly pleased with myself for so doing. I really enjoyed this novel in every way. well narrated too
I'm very pleased that I purchased this one, had hours of enjoyment listening to it on holiday.
It's an exciting story, just the way I like my action/adventure books.
The lead character, Vail, is so compelling that I have to have more of this.
Looked for the next one to download, but this one is it, for now at least.
"Pretty Decent Debut"
Perhaps a little deeper analysis of the motivation of the villiain
Have done so already. Has the makings of a good series
Yes ... it was easy to follow the story during the dialogues and none of his voices were clichéd
No .... I fall asleep during every film I watch!
I enjoyed the story it contained plenty of action sequences and the mystery was good enough to keep you hanging in there.
I wasn't keen on the narrators male character voices many were to similar and had a whinging tone to them. But his general story telling was great.
Apart from that it's a good book I enjoyed it.
Predictable...same feeling as if watching a 'made for TV movie'. A suitable summer beach read.
Great book! Really enjoyed the story. Look forward to more in The Bricklayer series. Great narration also.
"A good yarn"
Easy to suspend disbelief for this thoroughly enjoyable story. Familiar ingredients are combined to pleasing effect. Hard to switch off.
"Predictable yet implausible."
Wanted to give up half way through and now wish I had. Come back Reacher, all is forgiven.
"A good listen..."
Easy listening, characters established early on, easy to follow, good middle story and a wee twist to finish. All in all a nice bit of escapism.
