In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

Publisher's summary
In Robert Ludlum's ground-breaking career, no other character so captured the world's imagination as Jason Bourne. He appeared in three of Robert Ludlum's own #1 bestselling novels, his bestselling works to this day. Now, with the major motion picture adaptation of Ludlum's The Bourne Supremacy, the Ludlum estate has finally acceded to the demands of readers and listeners around the world, turning to bestselling writer Eric Van Lustbader to create a brand-new Jason Bourne novel, The Bourne Legacy.
Jason Bourne, international assassin of deadly repute, was an identity assumed by covert agent David Webb. Retired from the CIA and now a professor at Georgetown University, Webb's life is finally his own—until he becomes the target of an assassin and is framed for the murder of his two closest associates. Fighting for his life against unseen assailants, the Bourne identity asserts itself, leaving Jason Bourne in control. Barely a half-step ahead of his nemesis and the CIA, who believes he has gone rogue, Bourne finds himself a pawn in a larger, far deadlier game.
Critic reviews
"Scott Brick is one of the fastest-rising stars in the audiobook galaxy. His understated approach to each book serves him well, and whether he is handling a roomful of Russian generals or a series of dizzying scene changes, the listener stays with him for every word." (AudioFile)

In the 25th century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person's consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or "sleeve") making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Story
It's been over a decade since Nash Rollins recruited a brilliant, talented, but disaffected young man named David Webb to join Treadstone. Webb became the agent known as Cain—and later took on the identity of Jason Bourne. That violent winter—which included Cain’s first mission for Treadstone—was also a story of betrayal in ways that David never knew. So after the injury that erased Bourne’s whole life, Nash lied about the circumstances of David’s recruitment to Treadstone. He was afraid that learning the truth might drive Bourne out of the agency forever.

All in the family.
Where does The Bourne Legacy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book ranks right up there with everything I have listened to.
What other book might you compare The Bourne Legacy to and why?
I would compare this book with every other book in the bourne series. The thing that makes this book stand out among all the others is the truth about Bourne's son from his past. This has all of the action that every other book in the series has as well. This book kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through.
Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?
I think Brick did an excellent job making the Jason Bourne character come to life in this book. It is my opinion that a good reader needs to put feeling into what he or she reads.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.

Jason Bourne style continues...
Continues in Jason Bourne style except for one thing. Jason's closeness to Marie (even calling her) is almost not existent. Kind of strange. But this is a different author. Have to remind myself of this...
Interesting story though. Scott Brick gives a great performance!

I found the book very intertaining.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Bourne Legacy to be better than the print version?
For me yes since I have little time to read
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It kept moving at a good pace. There were also a few well placed twists where I found myself saying out loud,"Wait, What, didn't see that coming"
Which character – as performed by Scott Brick – was your favorite?
I would probably have to say Khan.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I could have I probably would.

If you’ve not enjoyed a book on tape narrated by Scott Brick, you don’t know what you’re missing!
Not only is born one of my favorite characters, but to have it narrated by one of my favorite narrators on audible, is a win-win. This was the perfect companion, as I traveled 18 hours to and from Austin, Texas on my own. I started the book on tape as I was pulling out of my driveway, got to the halfway point as I got to my sisters, house, and on the return trip, the book on tape finished as I was turning on my street Whoo hoo!

The Bourne Legacy
I enjoyed the Bourne Legacy as much as any of the other Ludlum Bourne novels. The character development of Bourne adds a dimension to this thriller that makes this a truly enjoyable book. And of course the reader, Scott Brick, is great as always.

Fabulous Edition to the Bourne persona
Although this is the only Jason Bourne book not written by Robert Ludlum, it is an awesome addition to the existing trilogy. The book is very fast paced, with an intelligent plot that will keep you guessing until the very end. A lot of the loose ends concerning David Webb before the memory loss are tied up, and plot twists have been added which heighten the plots of the other three books. Amazingly, you can now read the other books again, and bring forth a new dimension of depth to the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and immediately had to listen to it a second time. That is something that I rarely do. I hope that the Ludlum family will contine to allow this author to add more books to this saga, as his ending would allow him to do so realatively easily.

An absolute must for Bourne fans
Scott Brick delivers an absolutely riveting narration of this expertly crafted novel. Eric van Lustbader continues the spirit of the Bourne character as if it was his creation from the first. Excellent character development of Jason Bourne and more than enough pace, action and characters to keep the storyline racing along. Fantastic read and a must for all Bourne and Ludlum fans.

More Bond than Bourne
Though I was engaged for the whole 18 hours, the plot disappointed me. A key element of the original Bourne books was the uncertainty of whether Jason was a hero or anti-hero, and the authenticity of Bourne's pursuers. All had a gritty, credible realism.
In 'The Bourne Legacy' everything comes to us black and white, and the primary villain, Stefan Spalco, comes straight from a 1980's Bond movie - farcical and cartoonish. And Stefan heads an aid organisation that is really a vendor of terrorism and assassination. Come on, give us a break.
In the end, I was disappointed in myself for listening to whole thing.
