Publisher's summary

The New York Museum of Natural History receives their pilfered gem collection back, ground down to dust. Diogenes, the psychotic killer who stole them in Dance of Death, is throwing down the gauntlet to both the city and to his brother, FBI Agent Pendergast, who is currently incarcerated in a maximum security prison.

To quell the PR nightmare of the gem fiasco, the museum decides to reopen the Tomb of Senef. An astounding Egyptian temple, it was a popular museum exhibit until the 1930s, when it was quietly closed. But when the tomb is unsealed in preparation for its gala reopening, the killings, and whispers of an ancient curse, begin again. And the catastrophic opening itself sets the stage for the final battle between the two brothers: an epic clash from which only one will emerge alive.

Hell hath no fury

OMG!!! This is the best Pendergast book so far. What a read. I was totally captivated. With Aloysius in prison, Diogenes feels free to reak havoc. But as they say, "the best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry ". After being "busted" out of prison, Aloysius finally learns why Diogenes hated him so much. Diogenes makes a fatal error when he seduces Constance and leaves her a scathing letter taunting her for being gullible and suggests she off herself. Aloysius is busted out in time to foil Diogenes plans to turn people mad through a new exhibit at the museum where he has been masquerading as a curator for years. This book was a total joy to read. It does not disappoint and leaves you with a surprise at the end. I highly recommend this one.

YES !!!

YES!!! Another great adventure for Pendergast.
Bonus section at end by authors about reading these novels and which comes first in the series -- not a rule of law.
I have read some out of order and followed plot and characters okay, but going back to fill in the earlier books makes it even better.
This one does hold some surprises and is the third of a trilogy -- Brimstone, Dance of Death, Book of the Dead.
Enjoy -- but do not stay up half the night as I did -- twice -- in anticipation.

Very entertaining

I love these books by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston. They keep me on the edge of my seat. The writing is terrific and I find it hard to put it down. The narration is very good also. I just love thrillers

Good creepy story

Good Pendergast novel, not the best but still a great novel none the less.

A great end to the Diogenes trilogy.

Another great addition to the Pendergast series, as well as the culmination of the Diogenes trilogy. The narration was spot on, a fabulous all around experience.

A thesaurus might be helpful, boys.

Here's a new drinking game. Every time you hear "It was the work of..." take a swig. You'll be plastered in no time. Already heard this three times in the next book, and I'm only on chapter 18.

An aural treat!

Scott Brick does well overall but painfully mispronounces a number of words (which seems quite preventable). Preston and Child again write compelling work. The occasionally cheesy or predictable lines, like twice referenced howls or shrieks of the damned, are forgivable per their brilliant storytelling.

Perfect follow-up! A+++

Months ago I listened to previous book, "Dance of Death" and found it intriguing and suspenseful. This book gives you an extremely rare opportunity to know the villain's alter-ego way before the characters even catch a whiff. The villain is uniquely twisted individual! Brick does a masterful job with these characters. A satisfying read ... make sure you read the other one first. A tiny complaint that the last portion of the book could have been more tighter.
