Publisher's summary
To quell the PR nightmare of the gem fiasco, the museum decides to reopen the Tomb of Senef. An astounding Egyptian temple, it was a popular museum exhibit until the 1930s, when it was quietly closed. But when the tomb is unsealed in preparation for its gala reopening, the killings, and whispers of an ancient curse, begin again. And the catastrophic opening itself sets the stage for the final battle between the two brothers: an epic clash from which only one will emerge alive.
Critic reviews
"Another gripping, action-packed page-turner...with a tantalizing, ominous twist at the end." (Publishers Weekly)

Given the abundance of funerary artifacts that have been found within the sands of Egypt, it sometimes seems as though the Ancient Egyptians were more concerned with the matters of the afterlife than they were with matters of the life they experienced from day to day. This is underscored most prominently by the pyramids, which have captured the world’s imagination for centuries.

Former naval doctor Peter Crane is summoned to a remote oil platform in the North Atlantic to help diagnose a bizarre medical condition. But when he arrives, Crane learns that the real trouble lies far below on "Deep Storm", a stunningly advanced science-research facility built two miles beneath the surface on the ocean floor. The top-secret structure has been designed for one purpose: to excavate a recently discovered undersea site that may hold the answers to an ancient mystery.

Story
Erebus Resort, occupying a magnificent, hundred-thousand acre valley deep in the Colorado Rockies, offers guests the experience of viewing woolly mammoths, Irish Elk, and giant ground sloths in their native habitat, brought back from extinction through the magic of genetic manipulation. When a billionaire's son and his new wife are kidnapped and murdered in the Erebus back country by what is assumed to be a gang of eco-terrorists, Colorado Bureau of Investigation Agent Frances Cash partners with county sheriff James Colcord to track down the perpetrators.

Yes it that good!
The perfect setting for the perfect mystery…no…thriller. A dusty museum, something staking the workers and add to the mix sibling rivalry. Yea, this is the basis for a good listen and Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child delivers. This was my first “FBI Agent Pendergast” book. I liked it so much I am going back to the beginning of the series. Yes it that good!

A Real Clifhanger
When this book gets going, it really gets going. I kept thinking I'd gotten to the end only to find the plot building to another climax.

Riveting!!! Couldn't stop listening.
Even when we may have figured a few things out about the plot & characters, the surprises, twists and nuances of the storytelling are superb! I so appreciate their obvious and dedicated research, and whatever elements may be invented or embellished, they have created unforgettable scenarios.
I love these authors, and Scott Brick is an amazing narrator.

Must We Wait For More?
Preston and Child deliver the book I've been waiting for since last August. A thrilling conclusion to the "arc" started in Brimstone, and just when you think it's just about over, the bottom drops out and the story takes off again.
Clear your day because the last thing you're going to want to do is turn this off.
Anyone else think Sccot Brick's voice is like liquid sex for the ears?

Nice one
While definitely a follow up to Dance of Death, this book does bring us a measure of completion on the story of Pendergast and Diogenes. I really like these books and have listened to them back to back. This one started a little slow for me, but didn't disappoint as I moved to the meat of it.
This is not a standalone book if you really want to have a good sense of what's going on.

A Fitting Conclusion
This book was an appropriate ending for the Pendergast saga (at least to date). In their usual way, the authors tease and tantalize the reader at every turn. Hopefully, in spite of each author striking out on their own, they will continue to collaborate.

Very entertaining
Very Entertaining book. My wife & I like to listen to books when we travel. This book as well as the previous books in the series are very easy to listen to and pretty easy to follow while traveling. Sometimes my wife gets a little lost & occasionally I as well, but between the two of us we're able to fill in the parts the other missed. Only two down sides, 1st the author's get a little too descriptive at times dragging out a scene & 2nd they change readers from book to book, understandable & definitely not a big deal, you just get used to the way a reader reads & then start the next book thinking I liked the last reader better. By the end of that book you'll like him just as well. Funny how that works.
