An earthquake in Masada, Israel, kills hundreds and reveals a tomb buried in the heart of the mountain. A trio of investigators - Sergeant Jordan Stone, a military forensic expert; Father Rhun Korza, a Vatican priest; and Dr. Erin Granger, a brilliant but disillusioned archaeologist - are sent to explore the macabre discovery, a subterranean temple holding the crucified body of a mummified girl.
But a brutal attack at the site sets the three on the run, thrusting them into a race to recover what was once preserved in the tomb's sarcophagus: a book rumored to have been written by Christ's own hand, a tome that is said to hold the secrets to His divinity. The enemy who hounds them is like no other, a force of ancient evil directed by a leader of impossible ambitions and incalculable cunning.

I loved it
death seemed very close at all times
his vocie and story telling gift.
Too long for one sitting
Yes, when is book 2 coming out?
A completely different story. I did not like this story line at all. Maybe it was because he had a co-writer and this story was her idea.
Hopefully a much better mystery or thriller. I am always watching for new books from my favorite authors.
He gave a very good performance in my opinion. I enjoyed his performance, just didn't like the story.
I would definitely get rid of all the vampires, the grim wolves, and definitely Rasputin.
I have loved all of James Rollins' previous books. This one was just bad. It even took almost 10 discs before it held my interesting. I have enjoyed some vampire stories, but definitely not this one.
I love reading - it always takes me to a new world.
The plot - so many parts to put together and fun to think about

I really like the book. It was a very nice change from reading the Sigma books.
I really enjoyed the archaeological parts of the book, as well the puzzle solving. Think Sigma, only replace the team with vampires. These vampires are not like the ones in Twilight, or Vampire Diaries.
I personally thought the narrator did an excellent job. His accents were spot on. The audio editor might have done a better job by increasing the volume, as sometimes the narrators voice became very soft while reading the story.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.......
The first chapters of this book were exciting, and the book could've taken many interesting directions - but the vampire direction that the book took lost me. I finished the book because it was entertaining enough, but it was definitely a little "out there". I would have definitely kept the first 100 or so pages of this book and then taken the story in a completely different direction, far away from the vampire fad of this decade. I would quickly (and in an oversimplification) sum it up as The DaVinci Code with vampires.
It's entertaining enough, but not fantastic. Though, after you start it, you do want to know how it ends, even if the story is just mediocre.
The story was toooooooooooooooooooo long and made no secne at times.
I will not listen to any books that are similar to this.
Different, yet still a good read. I have been a James Rollins fan for a very long time. This book departs from his normal writing style, but that's not all bad. I found the book to be intriguing and it kept my attention throughout. Rollins has a unique way of telling a story, and that was evident in this book even though he wrote it with another author. Although the book contained supernatural main characters, almost everything you can think of, it will keep your attention from the first page to the last. And even though I have a strong faith, I took this book to be an absolute work of fiction and, therefore, didn't take exception to the religious slant or the alternate interpretation. They were simply fictional, a fantasy and to be taken that way. I can say that I do look forward to he and Ms. Cantrell writing more together.
I've read most of Jame Rollins' books, this was not one of my favorites, but not bad.
Yes - I'm quite partial to audio books.
Interested and looking forward to Book 2 though there were more groups of protagonists and antagonists than I was prepared for.
This was my first listen to the narrator.
I am really a fan of James Rollins but this just did not work for me. It is the first purchase from audible (and I have several hundred titles in my library) that I will not finish. I am very dissappointed. I did not like the narrator and I did not like the story. I listened for over 4 hours and was just not inspired to waste my time. I found myself listening to other titles rather than going back to this waste of my money.
