Publisher's summary

An earthquake in Masada, Israel, kills hundreds and reveals a tomb buried in the heart of the mountain. A trio of investigators - Sergeant Jordan Stone, a military forensic expert; Father Rhun Korza, a Vatican priest; and Dr. Erin Granger, a brilliant but disillusioned archaeologist - are sent to explore the macabre discovery, a subterranean temple holding the crucified body of a mummified girl.

But a brutal attack at the site sets the three on the run, thrusting them into a race to recover what was once preserved in the tomb's sarcophagus: a book rumored to have been written by Christ's own hand, a tome that is said to hold the secrets to His divinity. The enemy who hounds them is like no other, a force of ancient evil directed by a leader of impossible ambitions and incalculable cunning.

Surprising Disappointment

I've read all of James Rollins' books. I buy and read/listen as soon as each new one comes out. I was surprised when I was disappointed in this one. The story seemed to be a series of hackneyed elements from other series and books I've read over recent years. The characters' dialogue was juvenile in many instances. I expected someone to come out with "golly gosh" at any time. Overall it didn't read/listen like a true James Rollins book with the action rolling me along to the point that I could not put the book down. Please where is Sigma Force??

The redeeming quality was the narrator. He brought life to the mostly cardboard characters with his voice.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

another vampire, warewolf book and not a good one. The reader isn't that good either. Tried twice to listen to it, didn't get thru the first part either time.

Would you be willing to try another book from James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell ? Why or why not?

too slow

Could you see The Blood Gospel being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Dragged at times

Kind of like a Dan Brown novel with supernatural characters. Characters were engaging enough but the storyline got bogged down at times. I would probably read a sequel.

I loved this

"Biblical references about knowledge and good and evil often get tangled up."

I bought this book for the cover. While I was in a Vampy mood.

I never expected to love this book so much to be honest after reading the synopsis. BUT Taking biblical references and mashing them with historical names that circled around the Vampire legends was just amazing!

We follow 3 characters. Cause you know 3 is a powerful number.

✝️Dr. Erin Granger who is at an archaeological dig when she is.... Persuaded to join a group of men after an earthquake has uncovered a tomb and a gas that kills all the tourists around it but one boy.

In the helicopter she mets a quiet priest of the Vatican

✝️Father Rhun Korza.... Look I can't really say much about him but he's hands down my faves and give me Paul Bettany vibes from Priest. 🙌

When they get to the sight they split Rhun taking care of the dead and Erin meeting

✝️Sergeant Jordan Stone, a military forensic expert; who is in charge of making sure the tomb is not hazardous. But once in the tomb they find a girl held to the wall by arrows....yeah shit starts to hit the fan!

Then we are on a wild Indiana Jones mission with our chosen three...... and vampires. that's important.
