Publisher's summary

When an LAPD narcotics officer is found with a fatal bullet wound and a suicide note, Detective Harry Bosch follows a bloody trail of drug murders across the Mexico border.

Working on the case, LAPD detective Harry Bosch is reminded of the primal police rule he learned long ago: Don't look for the facts, but the glue that holds them together. Soon Harry's making some very dangerous connections, starting with a dead cop and leading to a bloody string of murders that wind from Hollywood Boulevard to the back alleys south of the border. Now this battle-scarred veteran will find himself in the center of a complex and deadly game - one in which he may be the next and likeliest victim.

Impressed? Ace detective Harry Bosch is also on the case in other exciting Michael Connelly crime-fiction novels.

Super job with the Performance of Harry Bosch

The performance regarding detective Bosch was outstanding. It is somewhat awkward when a male voice tries to play a female. Suggest you have a female read for the female parts.
Overall, a great job.

Not as good as the first but great nonetheless

The plot was good and in typical Connelly fashion, kept you guessing until the end. Just when I thought I had it figured out, he blew me away. The narrator does a great job telling the story.

Bosch always draws you in

Narrator is awesome !
Bosch is true to character with his hypervigilance and left brain and analytical thinking
But also true to character with his relationships with women the way he idolizes and assumes they are the goddess for him

Another Harry Bosch Story

Where does The Black Ice: Harry Bosch Series, Book 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It was a good story. Harry Bosch is a tough, rough character. The story was a good one that keeps you wanting to listen. I list my Preston and Child books in ranking 1st place but this would be a 3-4th place in all of the books I have listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

It was constantly in a state of plot development. It was strong, solid story.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened too other stories read by Dick Hill.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Harry Bosch - More trouble, better results

Any additional comments?

Harry Bosch is a strong character, with his own way of handling a case. He is trouble for his captain but he gets the things done. He even works through his only time off. He is a fun character to read about.

Harry Bosch is the best.

Perhaps the thing that I love most about Harry Bosch is that he won't stop on a case until he finds the answers. He has to be satisfied that he has found justice, even if he is in danger, even if he ends up breaking the rules to do so. That's exactly what happens in The Black Ice, but if you know Harry, this isn't surprising. The Black Ice is danger mixed with the weaving together of several criminal cases and in the middle of all of that is Harry not stopping for anything, even when his uppers call him back.

It's fantastic. I liked this story a little bit less than Then Black Echo, honestly. But I think that's just because I'm a little bit less interested in drug cartels and the politics of international business. But the writing is top-notch and the way Michael Connelly weaves together the details in the story is just perfection. He is great at laying down twists throughout, and the twist at the end is one that I didn't see coming but I loved it.

The narration by Dick Hill is so great. Just like with the previous book, the thing that I loved most about Hill's narration in this series is the way that he makes Harry's phonecalls sound like actual phonecalls-like they are being spoken through a receiver. I always say the little details can make great audiobooks even better.

Harry is an intriguing character-my current favorite in fiction. I was glad to get to the end of this story, but only so I could move onto the next installment in this series. I purchased the next book in the series with a credit from my account and would not hesitate to say to other listeners that this book is worth one of their credits.
