Publisher's summary

Tim Dorsey is the internationally best-selling author of the gleefully over-the-top series starring spree-killer Serge Storms. In The Big Bamboo, Serge and sidekick Coleman head out west to take on Hollywood bigwigs and L.A. lowlifes in Dorsey's most outrageous novel yet. Before Tinseltown knows what's hit it, Serge has made an unforgettable foray to the Playboy Mansion and come up against Japanese Yakuza and a host of wacky characters.

Slow starter but what a ride after that

I almost stopped listening because I kept losing interest. But then I started laughing out loud at the dialogue. After that it was a whirlwind of action, characters, sets and a twisted plot. Loved it! Don't miss out on a great read.

Love the story. Hate the production.

Any additional comments?

I liked the story, or as far as I got into it. The problem was all of the mouth noise and paper noise and all of the other noise that was left in the recording. There are very few things that make me stop a book midway through. This book had them all..

Great story. Great voices. Horrible output. Please fix and do better in the future

A build up to nothing

The first half of this book was fine, however when it got to the 2nd part,it went all off track.Names were just suddenly dropped and it seemed like 2 different plots were going on at the same time, yet it was not clarified who the characters were in the story. For instance, who the heck is Ian? Also it was unclear why Serge had to run to L.A. he read a letter to himself and was on a plane the next minute.I'm thru with Serge books.

Must Be a Fan of Author

What would have made The Big Bamboo better?

This is a series, and I had to stop at ch 3, just not my cup of tea

Would you ever listen to anything by Tim Dorsey again?

From this little bit, I can't say I would be compelled to seek his work, unless my fave reviewer, Wayne gives it a thumbs up

What about George Wilson’s performance did you like?

He was very good, (almost in the vain of Dan Akyord)

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Could not catch the author's intent.

Hoping for it to be over soon

I've been plugging away hoping and hoping, as in a bad movie, the story will finally gel and grip me....
I do not understand what is going on and think it may have been decipherable
in print...
Still slogging away, making it a real challenge to follow on daily walks.
Can't wait to finish or maybe just give up and gone on to the next novel!

absolutely the dumbest book I have downloaded.

I think the book is supposed to be a satire but the characters, the cast, and the plot are so stupid and unbelievable that it was painful to trudge through the book. it is the worst book out of the 50-plus books I have listened to.
