Publisher's summary

Who's afraid?

Alex Cross battles the most ruthless and powerful killer he has ever encountered: a predator known only as the Wolf.

Alex Cross' first case since joining the FBI has his new colleagues stymied. Across the country, men and women are being kidnapped in broad daylight and then disappearing completely. These people are not being taken for ransom, Alex realizes. They are being bought and sold. And it looks like a shadowy figure known as the Wolf, a master criminal who has brought a new reign of terror to organized crime, is behind this business in which ordinary men and women are sold as slaves.

You're afraid.

Even as he admires the FBI's vast resources, Alex grows impatient with the Bureau's clumsiness and caution when it is time to move. A lone wolf himself, he has to go out on his own in order to track the Wolf and try to rescue some of the victims while they are still alive.

As the case boils over, Alex is in hot water at home, too. His ex-fiancie, Christine Johnson, comes back into his life-and not for the reasons Alex might have hoped.

Full of the unexpected twists and heartrending surprises that James Patterson delivers better than any other suspense writer alive, The Big Bad Wolf is an unforgettable thriller.

Musical Interference

I was not happy with the addition of music to the reading. I felt it was not necessary and at times, it was loud enough to cover the reader. Eliminate it and let the story tell itself. Save the music for a film or television production.

Annoying background noise and music.

The story itself was excellent. In fact better than a couple recent Patterson books I’ve read.
Maybe I never noticed the background noises and music in previous books but I found it very distracting. Like when you’re watching a movie and you need to turn up the volume to hear the voices or use closed captions.
A good book, which this is, does not need sound effects to try to increase the suspense.

What a ride!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It was my first time "reading" a Patterson novel and I loved. What a great substitute for music at the gym!

a little short on the details

This was an unabridged story but skipped over so many details that I had to check to see if it really was unabridged. Other than leaving out some plot details I thought it was a good story.

GRUESOME YET REAL

This tale is unfortunately a very real horror that many people endure. As usual Patterson treats the subject in a way that holds us on the edge of our seats. Sex trafficking is something people do not want to hear about. People reading this can be made more aware of its terrors. Unfortunately not many victims survive what has now become an international crime spree. Kudos to Patterson for telling the tale so well and making it so real!
