Publisher's summary

Detective Boone Drake has just masterminded the most massive sting in Chicago history, bringing down the heads of not only the biggest street gangs in the city but also the old crime syndicate. The story is the biggest in decades, and the Chicago Police Department must protect the key witness at all costs. Despite top secret plans to transfer the witness ahead of his testimony before the grand jury, an attempt is made on his life. And the person suspected of leaking this information may be one of the CPD's own.

Brilliantly done! Held my attention from start to finish.
Great narrating performance. Best I have heard. Can't wait to start the next book in this series.

Enjoyable Listen!

Where does The Betrayal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I'm newer to the audible world, but of the 10 or so books I've listened to, this was a pretty good one. Of the 4 fictional books, this was the best!

What did you like best about this story?

It was clean, but not silly.

Which character – as performed by Johnny Heller – was your favorite?

Probably Boone, because he reminded me of me when I was a young officer.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Most definitely!

Enjoyable!

I wasn't pleased with the first book, The Brotherhood, because of it's awkward ending. The Betrayal made up for it in that it ended with a sense of finality. I enjoyed!

Better Than the First

This is one of the few books where the 2nd in the series was actually better than the first! If you enjoy books that are believable, and narration that "fits" this is a really good listen.

Great sequel to the Brotherhood.

The story was fast paced and very interesting. Expect no less from an author like Jenkins.
Smooth quality story telling from a top notch narrator. Heller delivers as always

Keeps you guessing

The 2nd in the series, this book keeps you guessing as to who the "rat" is. I loved the drama, as well as the romance. I enjoyed this series so much that I am listening to it for the 2nd time along with my husband. Highly recommend it!

Excellent!

If you could sum up The Betrayal in three words, what would they be?

Have to listen!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

- kept wanting to hear what happened next.

Have you listened to any of Johnny Heller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

- just book number one - He has to be the best reader we have heard in an audio book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

That is difficult - but yes, several chapters at a time.

Any additional comments?

Excellent second book in the series. Now - on to the third one!
