Publisher's summary

A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weisz’s beloved Germany. The Nazi regime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Germany by the throat. All non-Aryans - especially Jews like Jacob and his family - are treated like dogs.

When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare - trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp.

As World War II rages and Hitler begins implementing his "final solution" to systematically and ruthlessly exterminate the Jewish people, Jacob must rely on his wits and a God he’s not sure he believes in to somehow escape from Auschwitz and alert the world to the Nazi’s atrocities before Fascism overtakes all of Europe. The fate of millions hangs in the balance.

Breathtaking

I have just finished this book and am breathless, tears streaming down my face. I've never written a book review before but this is a must read - for every Jew, Christian, believer in God or Atheist.

Very Moving Historical Biography

The telling of what occurred across Europe during the Nazi occupation can never be silenced. We must never forget what was allowed to occur to the children of God. We must never forget the human beings who allowed themselves to fight against fear in order to do the right thing. Thank you Mr. Rosenberg for writing this account even though I'm sure it was heart rending to even imagine.

A Glimpse of the Horror of the Nazis

Rosenberg paints the ugly picture of the horrible atrocities of Hitler's naziism. This book is oddly entertaining, disgusting, hopeful, and victorious. All though troubling to read at times, it is a really good book.

Rosenberg’s finest!

Of all of Joel Rosenberg’s books, THIS one is his best work. I fully believe it should be made into a movie or mini-series. OUTSTANDING!!!

memorizing

If a book could be breathtaking, tear provoking, and inspirational, it is this book! I am sadden by the thought of what has happened in this book but now live my life in a better more grateful way because of it.

Great book but so very sad

It is hard to believe that such evil could exist in our world. What is even harder to believe is that good people did nothing at the cost of so many lives.
The narrator did an awesome job. Mr. Rosenberg is one of my favorite authors and he never disappoints.
