an excellent heart wrenching story

worthy of a Hollywood movie epic. the people of the world need a reminder of the great evil in man's heart and what it can do when good men do nothing.

Beautifully written & read! What is OUR response?

Dire circumstances demand a response; yet, for those European Jews who maintained their identity from their Homeland, and their view of life circumstances through what had always been, those who would try to alert them of the present dangers, were met only with delay and disbelief! After all, changes of this magnitude, unbelievable atrocities, indeed, genocide, was unimaginable! Surely, they MUST be mistaken!
Even IF they were true, they would surely be immune, as faithful, loyal citizens!

One of the best books this year

This is a vivid portrayal of the holocaust with all its villains and heroes. I truly feel this is a classic work that will outlast this generation.

intense and gripping, profound; and with the questions we all ask about this time period answered vividly from the perspective of a survivor.

My favorite book of my entire collection.

Wish I could have given it six stars!!! The narration was superb and the story line (true of course) was developed with splendid realism and outstanding dramatic tone throughout the entire script. I will try other Rosenberg books right away!

A Moving Story

What did you like best about this story?

This wa a great story of a terrible time. While listening I tried to imagine what life was like for the people of Europe during the Nazi occupation and found myself unable to comprehend both the pain of the millions who suffered but also how so many could seemingly be willing to participate in the cruelties inflicted on fellow human beings.

What does Christopher Lane bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Lane allowed me to feel some of the fear and pain Jacob went through living through the almost unbelievable atrocities of the time.

Loved every bit about it. Have read many WWII histories and novels and holocaust stories. So good - now I want to research if any of the story is based in fact.
